am amazed how many k.cal the b.m.i checker says I can have. i have had a gastric by pass and i thought a diet means 1200 k.cal any thoughts?

Depends on your BMI and activity level. But as you had a gastric bypass it maybe a good idea to check with our GP/consultant.

Your dietician will guide you but you might have to go easy on the bulky foods and high fibre foods as your new stomach is probably small and will fill up quickly. Concentrate on small portions of fresh fruit and easily digested veg (maybe in a smoothie), and small amounts of protein. Lots of drinks! Be interesting to hear how you get on.
