Blood sugar diet

Has anybody (diabetic or not) tried this 8 week low calorie plan? Reversing diabetes seems a big claim but it's all over the press at the moment. My blood sugars are high end of normal and thought it was worth trying but it looks tough.

I know 2 people who are diabetic who have had great success with this.

I am following most of the principles...except the 800 calls a day, I don't count my calls, but I am tempted to.

I have, so far so good.  I am week 7 now and apart from needing to lose a lot of weight that had been creeping out of control for 3 years, because of all the dibetes scaring and because we had a doggie with insulinoma, we became a bit obsessed with blood glucose.  So having checked mine about every 4 months i had a shock 8 weeks ago when it had gone from its normal afternoon fasting of 4.8/5 (also tested same by doc) to 5.6/5.8.  It scared the poop out of me.  I was a classic pre diabetic, fat all around the middle post meno woman who had other health problems and hardly moved most days.

I started a low cal, low carb (no simple carbs) low fat diet.  My fasting (afternoon) blood sugars are now back to 4.8/5.  This was last week and I will hold off testing for another week now.

Exercise was very difficult at first and I opted for the high intensity option using dancing that was on the spot but worked all muscle groups, 2 minutes the 1 minute eased of rest.  Then once I found I could move again I progressed to doing this on the treadmill too, only power walking.  This week I introduced another session using my latest torture machine called an air bike.  I now do 3 sessions of approx 5 songs, 20 minutes treadmill and 10 min airbike 3 times a day.  Depending on knees the treadmill may be excluded.

Overdid it the other day and made the joints and left arm swell up, but carried on regardless yesterday and the swelling is going down ;)

I think there are many more doing this reversal diet on here but it's not openly discussed because it's not really a healthy for life living plan.  However, if its about avoiding something like diabetes becoming part of your life, it is a very healthy living diet.

I had lost a total of 1 stone and 3.1lb last week.  Blipped up significantly this week because of fluid retention, but am hopeful that by my weigh in time of 11am I will be back on track or as near as damn it!

Very best of luck, you can do it :)  Always check with your doc.

Good idea to talk to your doctor about the diet, as it may not be appropriate under certain medical conditions.

You can improve blood sugars a lot by cutting out refined carbs like bread, pasta, breakfast cereals, all sugary products.

This article describes the effects of a change in diet for one family. Cutting calories may not be necessary.
