Hi Julie7173,
Welcome to the forum, and I hope you'll enjoy being part of this community. It's a friendly and supportive place and there are lots of things going on. I'd recommend having a read through the Welcome Newbie post, which Moreless (a lovely forum member) has put together:
healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...
That way you can see if you'd like to join in anything specific. Many of us are doing the NHS 12 week plan, as a framework with good resources. There's a link to that plan in the Welcome newbie thread, and the Pinned posts (right-hand-side of the homepage) are also really good.
If you like the idea of a group weigh-in, then the Monday group weigh-in sessions are happening today - just link to that via the Events section, below the Pinned posts.
Hope you find your way around ok, and wishing you a great week ahead.

Hi Julie and welcome to the forum.
Best tip I can give is to start the 12 week plan and read through some of the posts on here.
If you are determined to lose weight then start as soon as you can by making a food diary and write down everything that you eat and drink including snacks etc. Weigh and measure yourself so you can chart your progress.
Determine what weight you would like to be and check your BMI to give you a guide as to what your daily calorie allowance would be in order for you to lose weight.
Then plan your meals, cut out unhealthy snacks and join the Monday weigh in group.
You will see results quickly as long as you don't cheat Plus the members of this forum are so supportive and helpful and you can be sure that whatever your situation is there will be somebody on here going through a similar experience.
You have nothing to lose, except pound or kilos, so give it a go John
