I've joined now because I really need to lose 5 to 5 and a half stone between now and my 50th birthday June 2017 as I don't want to be fat and 50!
I have done so many diets over the years and had success on some but not on others. The best one where I actually got down to my target weight was Slimming World when it was mainly red and green days. I put on a lot of weight when I got married and had my two beautiful daughters who are now aged 5 and 7. Currently I am the heaviest I have ever been, heavier than when I was pregnant π’
I can't seem to get motivated but I hate being the weight I am especially now. I've realised I can't do this on my own so here I am.

The details of that are in the Newbie pack, as well as in the Events section of the homepage (right-hand-side) - there's a link to the latest Monday group weigh-in post if you want to take a look to see if that might be something you'd like to be part of.
Hello Kirsten, Have you considered Tibetan herbs for slimming ? My dietician recommended them and I am really happy with the result. They are natural herbal blend for brewing and drinking before each main meal. If you combine them with a rational and healthy diet then I am sure you will reach your target even sooner than you need it.
I am 55 very soon and may, finally, be fit healthy and slim. It has taken 40 years!!
You can read my story by clicking on my name, but in August last year I made permanent changes to my lifestyle. These actually weren't drastic as I already ate proper food, I just had to reduce the amounts. But it is not a 'diet' π
The only way to lose weight is to eat less calories than you burn, what I have tried to do is also form better habits for lifelong health and wellness. Convinced my self that I am in charge and I can and will do this!
There are lots of ways to do this, everyone has their own ideas, but for long term success it has to suit you and your lifestyle. I suspect with two young children you already cook properly, and probably don't sit down much either!! So do some research, read everything you can, check out the nhs12 plan as lowcal suggests, just quite small painless changes can make a massive difference.
It can be done - a major birthday milestone can be a great incentive.
I lost over 3 stone for my 50th; every time I was tempted to snack or have a 2nd helping, I reminded myself of my present to myself - a slim healthy body for my 50th birthday.
To help you take control, why not use an online calorie counter? Try and move as much as possible - take the girls swimming or cycling perhaps?
I am back here again now as the weight crept back on during my late 50's, but I know it can be done, and I will lose it again. You can do it too!
Wow, you have joined just at the right time! about 65 weeks to lose 75lbs is most certainly achievable
Make some smaller targets to help you along the way and enjoy eating proper food, (watch the portions like Anna said), and get some brilliant support from the forum members here.
I am really pleased with the results I have achieved in just 9 weeks. Today I saw a really nice designer leather bomber jacket in a charity shop, size large, which i would never have got into two months ago, it was a snug fit but I know that, after losing 4 inches already from my waist, in another month I will have plenty of room inside Happy days! John
Its my 50th next year too!!!! I have been trying to lose weight as I didn't want to be fat and 50 too!!! Signed up about 3 weeks ago and this forum is great for motivation and support. If you need help there always seems to be someone who will reply to your post. You don't need to feel you are doing it on your own. Never tried slimming world but had success with Rosemary Conley and Weight Watchers. I like Weight Watchers the best as it means you can eat almost the same as everyone else (I have 2 kids too!) just really need to watch portion sizes. I found the first 2 weeks really hard but now am used to not eating so much and as I can feel my clothes feeling a bit looser already it is motivating me (most of the time). Good luck and hope this forum help you find your motivation.
