Dipping my toes in the water...

I've been doing this NHS healthy eating since 1st November 2015. I'm a female, just over 60.

Started off at 16 stone 5lb and hated every inch of it. Felt awful, drank too much wine, looked dreadful in a dress, like a wrestler. Couple of wear and tear health issues forced my hand. if I don't want op I had to stop wishing I was a healthy weight and DO SOMETHING POSITIVE.

So I read all the amazing posts on this site, all the supportive, kind good wishes and thought, if all these lovely people can do it, so can I.

So here I am, finally plucked up the courage to come on!

I now weigh in at 13 stone 7lb, dropped 2 dress sizes and aiming for 12stone 7lb. I can and will do it.

I'm looking for advice though please. I've got "stuck" at this weight for about 2 weeks, only change (I think) is I'm drinking less water? Was on 6-8 pints a day for one of the health reasons. Dropped to about 3 plus decaf tea. Although I am active and really pretty physical in my day to day activities with dogs, sheep etc I have had a really bad cough after a cold, that I can't shake off, and can't run for spluttering. (I don't smoke) so find it hard to do more excersises right now, which I think would help. Have got a bad back too....I'm physically pretty strong but not supple, was wondering about tai chi maybe?

Thanks in anticipation of anyone taking the time to read this ramble x

Hello, well done for shifting some weight, some of us have and do plateau, it happens!

Look up calorie cycling, check portion sizes and re look at things, take care x

Hi and welcome sheepwhisperer :)

Wow! You've done fantastically well on your own! Wtg you! :) Being stuck for a couple of weeks is actually pretty normal and I suspect if you keep at it, you'll be rewarded on the scales soon :)

This is a link to our newbie thread, which has lots of useful tips in it

I hope you'll join us for the group weigh-in tomorrow, it's massively supportive and motivational and you'd be very welcome. The new thread will appear in the events section to the right of your screen before 7am tomorrow.

I hope we'll see lots of you on the forum and in our group "activities" and wishing you all the best :)

Kind words, Thanks for the praise! I looked at the links, didn't realise the site was so big, really helpful. Will try the weigh in tomorrow hopefully.

Looking forward to reading other people's experiences, it's a long hard journey but well worth it.

Drinking water is 0Kcal.

so have as much as you can, Don't give up your nearly there, be realistic aim for -1KG a month, that way you should reach your goal in a healthy sustainable way.

Don't dwell on bad results, focus on what you've lost and knowing you can do it.

Thankyou, sound advice. Because I stopped drinking alcohol completely and stopped eating portions that were increasingly huge, also vast amounts of home baking etc, the weight just fell off using the NHS 12 week plan. Family were getting alarmed as I vanished before their eyes, but I was never hungry on the new eating plan, and feel so good chucking out the big jeans and shapeless tops that I lived in. I thought it might even out once I got rid of most of the " blubber" and it has.

I do tend to be hard on myself, will try to look kindly on the achievement so far..at least I am just stuck temporarily, and not putting weight back on!

Us Virgos are difficult people :-) so I'm told........
