Firstly I'm sorry if this is a silly question but are red lentils just the same as the one's i use for ham and lentil soup thanks in advance 😁

Hi Rosie,

I think they probably make a nicer colour if you use red lentils as opposed to other coloured lentils. I sometimes make mine with the dark lentils, and it turns out a very 'grey' colour, which some people find unappetising! I'm sure red ones would have a nicer colour, and I think they break down more readily than some of the other versions.

Yes they are, personally I prefer red lentils to the green ones anyway :)

They should really be called orange lentils! Hope that helps. Great in any recipe as a replacement or addition to mince, especially as they take about the same 20mins to cook. But in more water and don't need frying off at the beginning.
