Goal 3: sleep!

Am moving through my health goals quicker than I thought.

Goal 1: Go dry. (21 days dry )

Goal 2: Go sugar free. (7 days free)

Goal 3: Go to bed by 10.15. (Minimum of 5 nights per week)

So I pledge tomorrow I will go to bed by 10.15. Just for one day.

I had different three goals to get to sleep on a night, but I have been suffering migraines since I was 2 months and they were keeping me awake amongst other things.

My goals were:

•Goal 1: Come off all forms of caffeine … coffee, tea, chocolate and a whole host of other food stuffs I found had caffeine added including J20 because it is a “natural product”

•Goal 2: Go on Gabapentin at a dosage which rested me; I found this to be 400mg

•Goal 3: Cut down on my Topiramate until my headaches went to just two a month. I did not need to because I am down to that now from every day previously.

Please note I am always in bed from 09:30 and lights off by 10:00 to ensure a regular sleep pattern. However please note I am an early riser so it may not suit every one.

I had not slept for two years at one point due to the headaches and I was only getting a maximum of three hours of undisturbed sleep prior to this regime.

Good luck with your trial; I really do wish you all the best.

Well done on achieving your goals!

I haven't slept properly for the last 8 years. Not due to pain and not so little sleep as you (you must have been exhausted. )

Firstly my daughter, now 8,needs very little sleep and still doesn't sleep through night.

I work fuĺl time too with a tendency for anxiety and stress. I am exhausted during the day and promise myself early nights. However then I get home, get busy and have second wind. I end up going really late between 11 and 12, get woken between 2 and 4 and rise at 6 the next day for work.

My plan is to get ready for bed early. Try and watch news at 6. Be in bed for 10 at latest and lights out at 10.15.

I must also not look at health unlocked past 9:00pm! I can lose an hour easily catching up on posts!

Good luck this week. 😊

Mine went on for around eight years too for the worst part, but most of my life I have not slept for more than five hours at a time. I now enjoy a seven hour sleep most nights. It is worth it in the end.

I went for tests for sleep apnoea and narcolepsy; the latter proved inconclusive.

My daughter is 18 and has lived through me getting up at 02:00/03:00 for many years. I rise at 06:30 now, but wake any time from 05:00/05:30. It is wonderful compared to how life used to be. My wife never worries what time I get out of bed as long as I say I am alright.

Hi asics hows the sugar free life working out for you? i'm on day six now and the head feels better but only lost 1lb again this week but maybe i'm being impatient.

I got my new fitbit on Saturday so i'm making sure i do my 10,000 steps a day and hopefully have a bigger weight loss next week.

I am finding it fine really. If I have had withdrawal symptoms they merged with the flu and various infections!

Today, day 8, was the first time I had a quick thought at lunch time about something sweet after lunch. But satisfied this with a kiwi. (Which as the programme said, comes with its own antidote to sugar - fiber).

I lost 1lb this week too.

Fitbits are great aren't they?! Little addictive!

I am sure with no sugar and 10,000 steps you will see the lbs come off. May only be 1 at a time but all losses are great!

Our bodies will be thanking us for this! 😊

Keep going and look forward to catching up.

Hi Asics, I was just wondering how long you plan on being dry - just being nosey. Do you have a planned end date or are you going to keep going as long as you can?

I partly ask because one of my friends did dry January and was quite unwell after having just one glass of wine when she stopped. She has now decided to mix wine with sweetened (artificial) flavoured fizzy water - like a spritzer - so that will greatly reduce her alcohol intake which is a great idea.

Very impressed with your commitment to all your goals :)
