The majority of the UK put on weight over Christmas. That is why January becomes national diet month as far as the media is concerned. So welcome to the human race on that one! I have faced exactly the same problem putting on 10lbs since I achieved my goal weight. I was doing really well shedding this since New Year at the rate of a lb a week. But after last week I put the 2lbs I'd lost back on. So I totally appreciate your worry. What did it for me was to review what I had been eating, because I do log it. It became perfectly clear I'd had a week that was miles from my diet plan. That and seeing those dreadful lbs on the scales gave me the push to stick to my lower daily allowance. I was about 80kcal over on one day, but apart from that I have managed it. I have planned better and eaten loads of low fat proteins and doubled my veg portions mostly by adding one extra to plates plus big bowl of veg soup. I have been feeling very full after my meals, so no temptation to snack. In fact yesterday I was about 80 kcal light. The way I did it was to photograph every main course and sent it to some friends to show I was being "good". So I suggest your start logging everything and find someone who can support you in looking at your photos or by sharing your food intake diary. We both know how to do it, because we have done it before. We know it works because it has before. So it is just finding a way that pushes your buttons and makes you stick to your plan. Good luck. I'm sure the thought of less pain will help you through.
