Hi Carrotcake,

Welcome to the forum. It's great that your husband has bought you a Fitbit - I hope you enjoy using that. Many of us on this forum are following the NHS 12 week plan - I would recommend it for its excellent advice and structure. You can access it via the icon in the top middle of the screen, entitled 'Weight Loss NHS' and click on the pages till you find the one where you can download the 12 week plan. Having the fitbit to help you calculate your calories and exercise is great, as it will help you enormously. Another good app is Myfitnesspal, which will keep a record too - maybe it can link to the fitbit, but I don't know how that works, as I don't have a fitbit.

If you like the idea of a weekly group weigh-in, then I post one on Monday mornings, just before 7am, and you would be very welcome to join us.

Regarding exercise, there's an Around the World in 80 days km challenge, so look out for that one - Lizzy (with lots of numbers after her name) is the poster of that challenge, and it's exciting - a bit like an Adventure. So if you fancy joining, they would welcome you!

Have a great week, and hope you enjoy this forum, and being part of it.

Lowcal :-)

I've tried ww and sw, I lose the first couple weeks then stay same or put on. I get upset cus i try so hard. It's like they say either you don't eat enough or your must be counting wrong or weighing wrong. I got married in 2013 I almost starved myself trying lose weight stayed same all the time I'm desperate now feel miserable which makes me eat more I've really pigged out over Christmas but have now made the decision I'm gonna do it - it's now my mission!!!!

I tried WW & SW and others and like you after a week or two kept straying. With the NHS plan it is more healthy eating than dieting which is hard at first (I'm a real chocoholic) but at least I don't feel hungry all the time like on diet plans.

I go to aerobics/keepfit once a week but most days try to do some walking , the fitbit is great helps monitor steps and calories.

Please don't feel alone, if I can do it anyone can. I have two cheats a week to look forward to, a treat (probably a kitkat ) on Saturday night and another the night I do keepfit - I believe you have to have something in life to look forward to.

Making the decision was the hardest part, do it. Good Luck.

Hi Carrotcake! I'm in the same boat as yourself :-) Tried Slimming World and no joy. I have also just got myself a smartband and started doing the NHS 12 week plan. Only 3 days in so far and I'm down 2lbs.

I've been going out for a brisk walk every day. Nothing too taxing.. just a 30 - 40 min walk to start me off. Making sure I get my 1.5l of water each day and as much of my 5 a day as I can manage. Feeling my energy levels and motivation increase every day.

You can do it! Keep us updated :-)
