So I weighed myself tonight for the first time in a while and found out I weigh 17stone!
I weighed less than that when I was pregnant. Since having my daughter I have eaten and eaten and now lost all my confidence!
So this evening I have decided to sign up to this lovely chat room and the NHS 12 week planner.
So any tips my new lovely friends??? Xxx

Welcome. It is a horrid time when you come to that conclusion. Everyone here will support you. Take a deep breath and write out some heathy menus and a shopping list to match. Good luck 😃😃
Do not feel bad about yourself, you've made a hugely important decision to make changes to your health and happiness and this forum is the place to do it
First things first, have a look at the NHS 12 week plan and see if it's for you. If it is download it and you're off Here's the thread
Hi Quick83, I began at 17 st 2 lbs and just couldn't live with that weight any more so I decided to make a change in my life to save my life and you can to. It's easy to put on weight and harder to lose, but stick with it because what you put into this now you will benefit from later down the line. You will become stronger and fitter and this new way of life will become routine, believe me. The nhs 12 week plan is fantastic and has been a true blessing for me and hope it will be for you too.
I'm now down to 11 st 1 lb and it has taken me 48 weeks to reach this weight and it all began with believing in myself. I told myself day after day that I can and I will do this and I looked at myself in the mirror and said it to. Now there's no stopping me
I began just walking 30 mins every day in the first week and lost 7 lbs then I walked 40 mins every day in week 2 and lost 5 lbs. The best thing you can do to kick start your journey and it's worked for others is to change what you eat today and start your exercise from the get go.
The thing to also remember is the weight isn't just going to drop off week after week some weeks you might only lose a lb others you might lose 2 lbs and then comes the maintain....don't ever be disheartened by these results just know that you are going to continue with the journey and that nothing is going to stop you. Believe in yourself today and your life will change forever. You can do this Quick83 you really can
Hi Quick83, congratulations in taking the first steps to a healthier you. There is lots of support here and many of us have struggled with our weight for years so we know where you are coming from. Good luck and keep posting.
Hello and welcome Quick83, I've made great strides following the principles of the twelve week plan. It's very good One thing that many have difficulty with, is keeping counting and calories. I found the best way is to plan my meals at least a few days in advance. This way I can work out the calories in my daily menu for the next few days and not have to worry about calorie counting.
An example would be;
Breakfast .............. Muesii ............. 250 cal
Lunch..................... Prawn Stir Fry..250 cal
Dinner ................... Spag Bol .......1,000 cal
Total...............................................1,500 cal
Allowable snacks and treats.........150 cal
Daily allowance ............................1,650 cal
So if the above represents my menu for tomorrow, then so long as I stick to the menu, I don't have to calorie count.
Another area, people find difficult, is portion sizes. I have a full set of measuring spoons and cups which allow me to dish up correct portion sizes
For instance, I use a specific ramekin to serve up my molded rice portions
It's all about planning and organising, which after a short while becomes easier.
If you keep a record or diary of some of your calorie counted meal recipes, you will also end up with your own cookbook. This makes shopping easier too. Basically, if it's not on your menu of ingredients, then you don't buy it (unless it's for another member of our household)
So just a couple of things to think about, but not necessarily to adopt.
Good luck on the start of your journey and I hope to see more of your posts.
Oooops I had to check my maths, I must be getting tired.
