I have work to do splitting plants, planting bulbs and generally getting ready for winter but there is such a lot of wonderful colour in the garden still it encourages me to get out there and expend a few calories..
Anyone else a keen gardener?

I love gardening .My lovely partner bought me a prolly tunnel this year so have been growing lists of veg .i love flowers too but our garden is mostly grass and heathers so I do my pots for colour .
Autumn is my favourite time of year so much colour and it's cooler so I can work more in tunnel and garden 🌺🌻🐝😃
I have a shady part of my garden and I have been newly establishing it with ornamental conifers and heathers. There was a huge tree there that was ugly and diseased and I have had it removed and the stump ground out.
I have problems with pigeons and Cabbage Whites in my veg patch, so this year I thought that I would try a netting cloche for my brassica. It was no good at all. I am not going to even try next year. I think a poly tunnel would be great but next year I am going to have raised beds and cut down how much I grow as there is only me and I give most of it away anyway.
I grew brassicas in the tunnel they weren't great .The kale was good and the cauliflower and broccoli ok but the cabbages grew like trees instead of hearting .My sprouts are not bad .Next year I'm going to put them in a raised bed as they take up too much room .Swiss chard is easy to grow .
I'm going to grow more salad veg next year .Carrots beetroot and chill plants did well in the tunnel but my tomatoes were rubbish not enough sun .my beans and. Pease were ok tho and peppered were ok .I got loads of cucumbers and courgettes .Accidently grew a couple of marrows .
Looking forward to next year with lots planned
Nothing like home grown veg and herbs 😃🌺🌻🐝
I'm also a keen gardener. I really should invest in a pedometer as the amount of time walking between the back and front garden must really add up. Yesterday my partner cut the hedges, so I was on 'clear up' duties. I've started planting some Spring bulbs, but have more to go. This year we created 3 new flower beds, so have been busy raising plants to fill these up (lots of seeds and cuttings). I don't have a greenhouse as the back garden is tiny, yet the front garden is quite long, so everything gets propagated on windowsills and in the porch. Happy days
Yes I love my garden too. I,m tidying up this afternoon. Autumn a beautiful time of the year and lovely to be in the garden.
I've been doing a bit of tidying up in the garden today. As you said, there is still a lot of colour in the garden although quite a few shrubs have decided that it's definitely Autumn so there is a lot of leaf-sweeping to be done.
I haven't been very well for a while so I am limited in what exercise I can do but I felt that I had used up a few calories today.

I love sitting and looking at the garden......so I appreciate you!
