I am trying but I can't seem to do this every morning I start with good intentions then by lunch I have blew it again 😒

You haven't blown it, even starting with the good intentions was good, and it's only part way through the day. You can still keep going with your good intentions for the rest of the day, just try to keep looking forward. Every small effort helps. Maybe re-assess what you're doing and see if there's a way to make it more manageable. Do you have too many temptations stopping you from sticking to your good intentions? Or have you tried to cut out too many familiar foods too quickly? I find it's good to have lots of healthy snacks to hand, and to have good plans in place for meals etc. Also stating things out loud helps too. Keep trying, eventually it'll all fall into place :)

Hi Tinytears2000, just a thought but are you trying to make too many changes all at once? The NHS 12 week plan is all about making a small change each week that all add up along the way. Maybe you could start by eating a healthier breakfast for a couple of days and then progress to a healthier breakfast + a healthier lunch, then move on from there. You will find lots of support along the way on here, just keep posting. Good luck.

I know how you feel, then I usually think "oh well blown it and continue to overeat all day". Going to try really hard to stop though. I have too much time on my hands too, plus danger foods for me in the house (bread,pasta,cheese, crisps) which I need to have for kids.

Hi Tinytears2000!

I took the liberty of looking at your previous post before replying to this post.

The most telling statement you made is that everyone tells you that you need to lose weight...but do YOU feel you need to lose weight? That's the important thing! It's easy to tell some one to slim, it's a damn sight harder to actually do it!!!

I have spent the best part of the past 25 years trying to lose weight - unsucessfully. So I know that if you want to lose weight for good, you need to really WANT to lose weight, you need to do it slowly and you need to do it sensibly!!!

Now, to your post today!

You CAN do it. You can.

I had 9.5 stone to lose. I've been counting for 4 weeks. I lost half a stone in the first 2weeks. I'm due to weigh in again in Friday. I have lost 1 inch from my hips to.

This is what I did. It could work for you too - if you are ready to do it!!!

1) Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan. It's full of good advice.

2) Start to make swaps - Wholemeal bread instead of white. Semi skimmed Milk instead of whole. Water instead of fizzy drinks. Fruit instead of sweets/chocolates. Don't make the changes to quickly....Make too many, too soon will make it harder to stick to!

3) Download the myfitnesspal app. It's free and brilliant way of keeping track!

4) Drink lots and lots of water. Sometimes we mistake thirst as hunger and it also helps to fill your tum.

5) Plan ahead! On a work day, make your lunch before you go to bed. You will have time to come up with something tasty and you will start on track for the day.

6) Invest in a good set of scales.

7) Avoid weighing yourself too often! Most weigh one a week. I weigh every other week, as I know I would get easily disheartened if my weight didn't go down!!!

8) Don't ban anything from your diet! These changes need to be for life - and we can't go through life never allowing ourselves any chocolate, of burgers or chips....we just need to learn to have them occasionally and in smaller portions!!!

I'm sorry this has turned in to such a long reply, but I hope you will find it helpful, because I NEVER thought I'd be able to lose weight....now I am and I feel amazing, both physically and mentally!!!

And I must invest in some good scales as mine seem to say different each weigh in depending were I put them in the bathroom πŸ‘£

when you do invest~ and it is an investment~ in scales, don't forget to place them on a solid surface, not carpet or floor covering, otherwise you will get an inaccurate reading.

NiCherry is right. Live well and enjoy living well so that weight loss is a consequence of an improved lifestyle not the main effect.

In addition try having a big breakfast: example eggs, tomatoes, beans, lean bacon, grilled mushrooms , wholemeal toast and milky tea/coffee . That should reduce odd cravings later in the day. I think it was three months of healthy eatings before I stopped getting cravings and stopped being hungry at inappropriate times.

You haven't blown it. Proof you're posting here. 😏

I hear you loud and clear.

Its tough I know that. I am a BMI of 41 and have been overweight and usually obese for more than 40 years.

Its really really hard and I am guessing you are suffering from the well known screw-it-i'll-eat-the-pizza-and-start-again-tomorrow-I-promise complex.

Well documented in many medical circles I believe :)

There is no magic cure and I am afraid that for the first few days sometimes all you can do is grit your tooth and push through it - it DOES get easier I promise and after you have 3 or 4 days behind you everything will seem so much simpler and easier.

Identify where your sumbles are being triggered.

For me I knew that I could eat healthy for most of the day but then come dinner time or after dinner was when that block of chocolate would suddenly find its way from the supermarket straight into my stomach - like magic.

i would drive past the supermarket late at night (when I finished work) and I would just stop and buy chocolate like an auto response - I just felt like I couldn't help it.

And then I started listening to a podcast called "Cut The Fat" as I was driving home - I found it very hard to think chocolate when all I could hear in my head was health, health, health.

You have to make some effort for yourself and think hard about when you stumble and how to counter it.

The other thing that helps is if I do something physical early in the day - a walk, some gardening, house cleaning - anything that gets the blood pumping - it seems to get your head in the right place.

Get a Fitbit - I love mine and it really DOES help to motivate you to get those steops happening.

I absolutely know what you are feeling and how frustrating it can be to almost lose control of your own body as you watch the good you started with in the morning just disappear as you gulp down pizza or chocolate or whatever.

You have to make a deal with yourself, find ways to distract yourself when you have craving, get serious about it and literally grit your teeth to get through your first day.

Even accomplishing that first day will help immensely.

NiCherry mentioned the Myfitnesspal app and that is the other thing I absolutely love - and my Fitbuit and the MFP app (free) talk to each other so I can always see in the day where I am at.

Find and use EVERY SINGLE TOOL YOU CAN to get yourself happening - they won;t all be your cup of tea but some will and they can help immensely.
