just joined the I need to lose weight today!
Hi Netty,
Lots of great advice and support on here. A few helpful hints for you :
1. You could join Lowcals Monday weigh in thread - lots of motivation and encouragement and a great way to be accountable for your weight loss.
2. Track calories on something like myfitnesspal (app or internet) - or just in a notebook
3. Ruth-canal-runner has started a Strength September drive which involves something worrying like doing lots of squats everyday - ugh !!
4. Most importantly (from my perspective), keep following the posts and gets loads of support, motivation, commiseration, encouragement etc from everyone.
I'm into week 4 and have lost approx 9lbs (which includes a 4 day blowout holiday last week and Pringles <hangs head in shame > - so anything is possible - good luck
I agree with Lucca10, the support from the forum is amazing. I'm following the NHS 12 week plan which is all about small sustainable changes which become a way of life rather than a quick fix diet. Have you got a particular weight loss plan in mind?
Hi Netty-123,
Welcome to the forum, and I hope you enjoy being part of this community. Maybe see you at the Monday weigh-in thread, if you fancy joining us for that. I post it just before 7am every Monday, and there are lots of really supportive people who regularly join in.
Ruth's 30 day Squat challenge is also incredibly motivating. Lucca likes it really!
The NHS 12 week plan can be downloaded by clicking on the icon above labelled "Weight Loss NHS" and you can follow the links to find it easily that way, if you want to take a look. It's got lots of advice and a good structure week by week.
Lucca has already mentioned the app called Myfitnesspal, which definitely helps to keep a track of calories and exercise, and makes it easier.
Wishing you success on your weight loss journey.
Lowcal
Ha Ha ! Lucca dislikes the squats so much, she uses the excuse of "having to save her legs for C25K" - instead today I did "Abs" which in actual fact made the squats seem like a pink fluffy unicorn !! Ouch
Hey Netty, welcome. Do post and reply to posts...this is such a supportive forum!
Hi Netty, this is such a great forum everyone is so supportive. It has really helped me stay motivated, there always seems to be an encouraging word from someone that makes you realise you can do it.
I second what everyone else has said regarding 12 week plan and my fitness pal is great.
Wishing you huge good luck and look forward to hearing how you are getting on.
55 squats doesn't sound like taking it too easy to me !!
Do try the abs though if you want to really feel like someone has repeatedly punched you in the stomach - I thought it was going to be a few planks (which I can cope with in moderation), but oh no...
