Hi all. I'm 45, have been on HRT for a year or so, and have put on BUCKET loads of weight. I've tried every diet under the sun and have miserably failed. I'm looking for something sensible and easy to stick to. Any insights or ideas? Thank you!

Hi, most people here are following the 12 week plan from the NHS. I have a lot to lose so not currently following the plan. I am just cutting down and reducing the amount of sweet stuff I eat.
I am sure plenty of advice about the 12 week plan will follow.
My advice is to make small changes that you can maintain for life and try to see your weight loss more as a lifestyle change than a diet.
Good luck
Hi I am a lot older than you and commenced HRT at 48. I felt fine until consultant warned me about ovarian cancer link. After a few years from that I came off. Then restarted later when nurse questioned why had I stopped! I have since watched my weight particularly avoiding animal fats. They are the killer for your arteries I have always felt. Also watch labels and have nothing to do with palm oil. We were warned about that when converting to e numbers in the 70's. I lost 2st with Slimming World 20 years ago and have only put on half a stone extra at this point. However I did that with swimming three times a week. That advice was from a back consultant. Once is better than nothing he said but if you want to lose weight make it three times and don't overeat. Keep at it and good luck.
Sorry, I do not agree about animal fats. Vegetable fats like rapeseed oil or sunflower, in fact any vegetable oil but NOT palm oil. Chicken or fish is OK for protein, for me.
