Walk at home

Just done a walk at home dvd .

Uses booster cables. What a great workout. Cardiovascular and strength. You can work up to longer and harder

Recommend it to anyone who can't run for whatever reason so can't do couch to 5k. Need a shower now. Also great for those who need to exercise at home.

Hi Yoyonomore,

Sounds like you had a good work-out. I was wondering what 'booster cables' are?

Great that you had a mixture of cardiovascular and strength in your work-out. Are the booster cables like resistance bands, or something similar?

Lowcal :-)

Yes I think so. Basically strong stretchy rubbery cords with loops to go under feet and handles to hold. I started with the 2 mile walk. There is warm up , then you do a section at 4mph with the cables also working upper body and core as well as legs and bum. A cool down and stretches. 35 mins of work.

I am not at all used to targeted exercise and can really feel I have worked out. I will repeat this dvd a few times more before moving up to the next one which is 3 mile. The last one I have is a 4 mile and in total lasts an hour.

Whichever length walk you choose you can increase intensity of strength workout simply by adjusting the length of the cable's.

I think I will use it a few times a week and in winter probably more as I won't need to walk in cold and wet!.

That is SO weird. I actually just wrote a post about them BEFORE I read YOURS!

I am so glad someone is using them. I only found mine this morning so am planning to bring them to work to use them - we can be resistance band buddies!

I think that I worked out better in 35 mins using the bands walking 2 miles at a speed of 4mph than during the long walks I have been doing outside. I haven't felt that post workout glow in years and it was just 35 mins in my lounge.
