I just got back from my first kettle bell class and I swear to god there isn't a single muscle in my body that isn't hurting. I'm absolutely, positively beaten to a pulp.
I was only using a 4kg weight but my god, by the end I had to wait 5 mins before I could even pick up my nearly empty rucksack! I still (45 mins later) can't pick up the kettle to make a cup of tea because my arms are so knackered... Thank god for rest day tomorrow!
That said, I'll definitely be going back next week
I was quite self conscious when I went in and I was worried other people would be looking at me because of my absolute zero fitness level, but I met a lovely lady who had been going for 2 years and she was so encouraging, she just told me to go for it, do my best and steadily I'll improve
Today was a massive MASSIVE leap forward for me. I joined a group fitness class and stuck at it from start to finish. I did (almost) all the exercises (admittedly poorly in places!) and pushed myself through quite a bit of discomfort to keep going. The class is held in a dance studio, so one wall is all mirrored. So in addition, I also spent 45 minutes staring at my body next to lots and lots of very fit people. I saw a fat person, but I also saw effort, a butt load of determination and most of all I saw myself giving every little bit of energy I had left in order to get better. Who cares if their squats are deeper or their swings are higher, I'm hauling around twice as much weight as them in most cases and starting from literally 0 muscle mass. That's bloody tough and the fact I even finished is something to be proud of
As I get stronger it will get easier, so I'm looking forwards to that
