Hey Maria please try to have heart! The healthy changes you're making are surely making a difference somehow? Have you checked your waist measurement? Sometimes I find that the scales haven't changed but my waist measurement has. Hopefully this week's 2lb is a blip - perhaps hormonal? Also, is there any way you can perhaps introduce more exercise? I did the couch to 5k programme and found it very manageable and it really helped me to focus and make my whole lifestyle more healthy. I really recommend gradually introducing something like that. Lots of luck :)

Hi ruth thanks for replying your right I.ve lost 5cm off my waist just checked already exercise a fair bit tho maybe not as much as I should as really do hate it I.ve made alot of health changes to my diet so even if my weight doesn't move least I know I.m healthier inside :-)

I visited my doc recently to get an inhaler check up and at the same time they did blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen levels etc. I was amazed that my breathing is now very good and my blood pressure was healthy, in fact quite low. I really put this down to all the healthy changes I've been making and it made me feel confident I was making progress, despite not much weight coming off. Maybe a checkup like this would be another good way of seeing change. 5cm off waist is excellent too. I wonder if your weekend toast just needs some extra weekend exercise to counter it?

Thanks ruth I.m thinking of getting a hormone check at the docs just to make sure there's not a problem there with my age being 47 thought I.d be alright this weekend as spent all of yesterday either walking or gardening but my body said no lol

Definitely worth ruling these things out, or finding out things you need to know if there are hormonal issues. I've had similar tests in the past, although am in my 30s not 40s yet. If you feel something's wrong then it's definitely good to seek reassurance. I do recommend trying something like couch to 5k though. Sometimes I think the body gets used to a type of exercise so you have to kick-start it with something different. For example I cycle all the time but still managed to put a lot of weight on. Learning to run seems to have made a difference though. Lots of luck!

Hi Maria

A slice of toast is about 180 calories and 180 calories over your daily allowance won't result in you putting two pounds on; that's impossible. You need to overeat by something like 3,500 calories to put a pound on. If that is the only difference then why don't you stop eating the toast at the weekend and see what happens?

If calories counting isn't working for you, why don't you try another strategy? I am on Slimming World and I love it and I am trying to cut out sugar too although that is really hard!!

Good luck

Hi alex7ra have been thinking about slimming world calorie counting has always worked for me in the past but hit 47 and now nothing seem to work could be hormones I guess at my age I am fairly active walk every day just looks like I.ll have to give up the bread I.m very careful with weighing out and calorie counting so know I.ve not been over by 3.500 calories each day but thanks for the reply :-)
