After a very difficult few months of illness and weight gain, I am trying to get my health back. I am 44 , a mother of two girls 10 and13. I have arthritis and asthma and need to lose about 4 and a half stone. Would greatly appreciate support as this will be a long road.

Good luck :). You can do it. This is a friendly and supportive forum so I am sure you will find it helpful. I have about 3.5 left to lose. A long journey but it will be worth it. X
Sorry to hear about your health problems, I'm sure there are others on the forum who can give you advice about the type of exercise that you can do despite the arthritis. Have you looked at the NHS 12 week plan. I'm on week 4 and have found that it really suits me. I was rubbish at portion control so my advice is check the size of your portions.
This site is very supportive and when I feel like a snack I stop and read the posts instead (it doesn't always work, but at least it makes me think twice about eating something I don't really need!).
Take care and good luck.
You really will get good support here. Suggest you remember regularly the benefits of the journey. By that I mean the personal motivations for getting your life back. That way you'll have a focus for the journey. It's never a straight road. It's certainly not a motorway either. But as long as your destination is in your sight it doesn't how long, or how windy your path will be.
Hi
I too have 4 stone to loose and have just finished week 1. You can do it... This time next week you will celebrate a loss of a few pounds xx
Sounds like you've reached a point where you really want to make some big lifestyle changes. I'm in a similar position and have found that making lots of small short and medium term weight loss goals and treating myself to non food treats helps keep me focused and keeps sticking to this plan achievable. Good luck.
