Hello everyone, glad to have found this website! One year ago, I worked at a YMCA, other than just being lazy I had no excuses to give myself..I was already at the gym daily AND membership was free of charge because I was an employee! I did it! I planned meals.. exercised almost daily..the eating part was easy as I love just about ALL food, lol. I lost 18 pounds in 2 months. I THOUGHT that if I got to the point where I saw results..I would be hooked for life..WRONG I was! I got a new job..a desk job..stopped exercising completely and the weight piled back on. Summer is almost here and the clothes I wore last summer..yeah not happening. I hope by connecting with some of you, real people in the same boat as me..that just maybe I can get on the right track again and STAY on it. Thanks for listening. Happy Losing! -Debra =)

Hi Debra and welcome to the group :-). You've done the right thing in joining us as I've found everyone here to be v supportive and helpful.
You know that you can do this because you have done if before! It may be a bit trickier because of your new job etc but you know what works for you. I also have changed circumstances so am having to do things a bit differently this time around. Don't let the fact that you cant get to the gym as easily put you off the diet side of things. Exercising is great but you can lose weight without it. I have been on here for about a month and have lost about a stone without doing any major exercise which shows that it can be done
I haven't done anything "faddy"; I've cut way back on unhealthy carbs (my carbs are now porridge in the morning and fruit and veg thru the day), have stopped snacking unless I'm actually hungry (I rarely am), have been drinking a lot more water than before and avoiding processed foods. I noticed the other day that I am actually eating more meals than previously tho I am consuming fewer cals. Previously I would just graze constantly and not on healthy foods.
I think it's mostly about being mindful of what you eating, when and why. It can be helpful to write down what you eat as sometimes we don't realise how it all adds up - cal counting can be useful. Also be prepared, stock your kitchen with the makings of healthy meals and snacks. I have found it helpful to discuss what I am doing and why with my family and they have been really supportive. Other people don't want to declare their lifestyle change to friends and family - it's your call.

Hi Debra. Put down that jam tart and lock the sugar away. As you pass the bakery study the deliciuos cakes on display and visualize making them. See the white powders, sugar and starch (flour) being poured in by a man wearing white overalls on which is written "Poisoners of the world unite. Hide the truth about sugar. The type2 Diabetes drug makers need you."
Type [ sugar or fat which is worse ] or type [That sugar film ] to watch a horror film.
In fact the truth about sugar is most definetely escaping onto the net at the moment.
Choose the stairs when ever you can but remember walking a mile will only dispose of one scone (no jam. cream, or butter and certainly no soft spread substitute for butter.
I'd say "see you on the beach" but as your post is 3 hours old I guess yor probably on the other side of the world!
Hi - I done something very similar last year. Lost weight down to size 10 but then had a number of very stressful months in my life. Turned to flood for comfort! 1 1/2 stone went straight back on! February was my turning point - i was in a better place, got on the scales and decided enough was enough. Sensible eating and back to gym. Lost 1stone and feeling much better in myself. On hols in June and my target is to get those dresses on!!
Hi Debbie, welcome to the group. MagsMM and Hairyman are saying most of it. What I can add is to download the 12 weeks weight loss program from NHS as a guide, and follow this forum. We are all different but have the same goal. Talking about goals, have your big goal and well as plenty of smaller ones to reach it, and hop along from one small goal to the next. Be happy and positive because you will get there.

Hi Debbie, Good luck with your weight loss. This is a great site people are so helpful and got lots of good advice. I've been fat for years but it is coming off slowly. Would have got lot further if I'd stuck to the plan. Hope it goes well
