Hi, do you have any thoughts on the 5:2 diet plan, is it worth giving it a try?

Hi Mello
I have done it in the past and it definitely works. However I find that whilst I can normally easily do one day per week, I find it hard to fit the second day into my lifestyle so I have switched back to calorie counting and the odd fast after I have eaten too much.
You have to find what works for you so why not give it a try? The first couple of times are tough but after that your body adjusts to being hungry. I've definitely found that these days I can cope for longer without food as a result.
Good luck
I couldn't get that app to work at all. And the last time I asked someone who recommended it they deleted their comment so I wondered if it was some sort of scam? It doesn't have any reviews on the app store. Does it really work CeeCee?
I have an I phone but it won't let me register. I go to the sign up page enter my details and then it says accept terms which I do and then it takes me back to the sign up page.
Some people feel OK and it works really well for them, others feel weak, ill and miserable. Perhaps you have to just try it and see. Personally, it wouldn't work well for me, but my job share colleague uses it for just two weeks at a time with good results. Best of luck.
Thanks cee cee
Ok, I will give it a go
Thanks for all your replies, will give it consideration.

I lost the three stone I needed to in six months on the 5:2 Diet after watching Michael Mosley's excellent Horizon programme in 2012, "Eat, Fast and Live Longer" tinyurl.com/qzgo7tq or tinyurl.com/a8ppjl7 and went from a size 16 to a size 10 by eating 500 calories two non-consecutive days a week. I've been maintaining my weight loss since April 2013 by just fasting one day a week - in the past I piled the weight back on as soon as I finished 'dieting'. I'd very much recommend you read Kate Harrison's book, "The 5:2 Diet" (tinyurl.com/qe6mz4u) - it really does work, it's totally FREE and it will save you a fortune (towards your smaller clothes!).
I'd also recommend a free app for your phone called MyFitnessPal. Counting calories is very important so you can see how much you're eating and therefore eat mindfully rather than mindlessly. There are excellent videos in the Help section on the app that show you how it works - there's even a barcode reader to scan in branded foods.
It's important you don't eat more than your TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) on non-fasting days. You can work that out here thefastdiet.co.uk/how-many-.... If yours works out at more than 2000 then aim at 2000 on non-fasting days.
Here I am in the Daily Mail on 7th January tinyurl.com/m7rqecq. The other two ladies’ stories are inspiring!
Here Michael Mosley answers many questions on it dailymail.co.uk/health/arti...

Thanks for the advice, I will look into it. Sounds good.
Watch the programme first and you'll see that it's beneficial for your health rather than 'just another diet'. I've given you quite a lot of information above, so take your time to go through it all.
Much appreciated, I vaguely remember it, so will refresh my memory. I think it may suit me, will let you know.
Well the main thing is that it works - and it's so much easier than having to watch what you eat 24/7. It fits in well around your social life as you can move the days around, as long as you're strict on those two non-consecutive days each week.
