I have just seen the doc 4 the same thing.... I feel like I eat all the time ? the doc has advised me that I need 2 exercise and that should help. Not really the answer I was after ? I think I need my jaws wired ☺

Hi Jody, I completely empathise with you. It's a daily battle huh?! :-/ Are you on the contraceptive pill at all, as I found that absolutely caused havoc!? I have stopped mine now and after a couple of months there was a big difference. I am by no means an expert, but from first hand personal experience, I started taking Kalms 3 times a day as well and my God have I seen a difference. It doesn't stop things being stressful, but I feel like I am just more relaxed about it all. The power of herbal stuff has all been disputed I know, but whether its a placebo or not... who cares! It works for me :p The other thing I found was really useful was getting a period app, and you basically log your mood each day and you'll more than likely see a pattern. Every month from this day to this day you feel like you want to eat loads and feel extra stressed etc. Then when you look back, you feel prepared and can almost tackle it head on cos you know how you will feel that day. I shant go on too much, but by all means message me if you like and I'll bombard you with more!!! :)

People (including docs) dismiss hormones so readily, but they have a lot to answer for and it's not even once a month! I have struggled for years, but this last few months I have been so much better. I have started to do my 12 week weight loss this Monday just gone, and being that bit more in control of my hormones is making the world of difference. So if you wanna chat any time, give me a shout :) Just hang in there, you'll get there in the end. x x

Exercise is likely to help, and so is cutting down sugar. They both affect hormone levels.

Talking therapies do cbt. I did it for depression and anxiety, talking to them may help deal with the issues causing the emotional eating. I found them really helpful

Well you can chat to me and it's hard to talk and eat, I am on my own and find evenings hard to stop my hands from opening fridges, but I go online and read all these posts, and find I'm not struggling alone. So here I am vacyone, post comments to me every night, I won't get fed up. And I will always reply.

Yes, it's really difficult, but group therapy they say works, bet "they" ! never had weight to loose though.

It's because you're trying to do it seven days a week. Why not try the 5:2 diet instead, where you're only actively dieting two non-consecutive days a week (and just trying to eat normally but sensibly on the other five.)

I lost the three stone I needed to on the 5:2 Diet after watching Michael Mosley's excellent Horizon programme in 2012, "Eat, Fast and Live Longer" tinyurl.com/qzgo7tq or tinyurl.com/a8ppjl7 and went from a size 16 to a size 10 by eating 500 calories two non-consecutive days a week. I've been maintaining my weight loss since April 2013 by just fasting one day a week - in the past I piled the weight back on as soon as I finished 'dieting'. I'd very much recommend you read Kate Harrison's book, "The 5:2 Diet" (tinyurl.com/qe6mz4u) - it really does work and it will save you a fortune (towards your smaller clothes!).

I'd also very much recommend a free app for your phone called MyFitnessPal. Counting calories is very important so you can see how much you're eating and therefore eat mindfully rather than mindlessly. There are excellent videos in the Help section on the app that show you how it works - there's even a barcode reader to scan in branded foods.

It's important you don't eat more than your TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) on non-fasting days. You can work that out here thefastdiet.co.uk/how-many-.... If yours works out at more than 2000 then aim at 2000 on non-fasting days.

Here I am in the Daily Mail on 7th January tinyurl.com/m7rqecq. The other two ladies’ stories are inspiring!

Here Michael Mosley answers many questions on it dailymail.co.uk/health/arti...

Hi all thanksfor the replies. Feeling better as hormones subsided a bit so the chocolate head is less hungry! I am going to start the Chris powell carb cycling on Monday as this is supposed to be very effective. Also means you don't cut out any food groups which nutritionalists don't like you to do. Hopefully it won't be too hard and will be able to manage it Ok. Shall write out menu plan ready for Monday so I can be as prepared as I can be. Also will get the gym bag ready as I know that this will help with the thinking. Exercise really does help but you have to make yourself go first! Always difficult when on your own doing it. Still onwards and upwards love to all xx
