Bonjour. Living in France is wonderful but the cheese, bread, wine and cakes are a huge challenge to avoid....but I'm going to do it. I'm positive and determined to get rid of this chunkiness beneathe my carefully chosen winter clothes. This forum seems a great place to meet like-minded people. Here we go....

Thank you...it's early days but I haven't been so motivated for a long time. I have just come back from a family skiing holiday and my knees and my fitness stopped me skiing on the last day with everyone. I had a quick peep at your past weeks and you are doing really well. Must be a great feeling.

Hi Gillian, that is what i love about this forum, it is a place to meet people who are going through or have gone through the same situation, wanting to lose some weight without starving to death. I am doing the 12 week challenge and find it is the best one for me because I am learning to count calories and eat food with lower calories, I don't go without anything really or at least i don't seem to, but I don't drink wine and that has a lot of calories.

Give it a go and keep reading the posts every night, it helps to get re-motivated after a hard day at work, when all I want to do is stuff my face and sleep. Now I don't do that, I have the food already made up and talking to everyone else on this forum at night reminds me of why i am doing this.

It is good fun, next week I plan to start the Couch to 5k to help lose a bit more and get some healthy bones.

Thank you. It does help when there is a lot of positives around but also realistic lifestyles. I will keep reading...and contributing.

Bonjour. Yes all that yummy French dairy and croissant au chocolate (my favourite). I find giving up white crusty bread with lashings of butter, chocolate and crisps the hardest. I'm on the 5 - 2 eating plan so go for 2 days without any carbs as much as possible. Seems to be working. I would give myself a treat day but can't trust I just wouldn't carry on eating the treat all day! Good luck, once you're in the right mind set it's easier to stick to healthy eating.

Thank you for the reply. I think it's a good idea to avoid carbohydrates on those days, but the toast my husband is eating looks so delicious. I guess, for me the advantage of the 5:2 diet is I know toast morning isn't so far away. Just doing the first day of the second week of it so early days.
