I watched this programme with interest. I've been on various diets over the years, but yo-yo back up again. Gave up all hope of losing weight, but this programme has inspired me. I did the online test, am an 'emotional eater' and looking for support, didn't know about this forum, hoping to follow low cal plan and address my emotional issues/wrong thinking, any help gratefully recrived!
Horizon programme on right diet. - Weight Loss Support
Horizon programme on right diet.
Yes, very interesting programs. I liked the way they concentrated on the type of foods to eat, and not just the calories. There was a good explanation of how your body will burn your stored fat if you stop eating carbohydrates.
Good luck with your new way of eating, Von. I'm not an emotional eater, but there are many on here who are, so you should find support.
Brill programme. I'm an emotional eater too. Looking forward to the last programme tonight.
Hi welcome to the forum hope you find the support and motivation i have. Im on week 11 and have been calorie counting, ive used the myfitnesspal app and it has made my life so much easier for using it.
I had a lot of emotional issues that i dealt with prior to the diet as was never in the right mind set to conquer them or have belief in myself. Still have bad days but things are getting better ever since i did talking therapies last year, they really helped me to look at myself and things around me differently and didnt judge me for the thoughts in my head. Therapy is not for everyone tho i just thought i would mention it as an option for you. You can self refer or go through the gp.
All the best and good luck
You need a bbc app, which if I'm right you can fool in Europe, by a device to think you are un the uk
The programme was interesting, although my status said I was a constant grazer, er no!
I just need a high protein diet, otherwise I feel too hungry, just the way I am.
More real sense from Eat right for your type from Dr D'Adamo, the blood type guy, I've never taken his complex geno type test, makes far more detailed sense.
And yet this programme failed to link this guy to their programme.
It wasn't perfect and TBH wasn't really new experiments but demonstrations of what is already known. That said it was extremely valuable if you are sincere. Lots of little tips that we should already know and use. One fairly common comment here is about falling off the wagon and moaning about it. I cant remember who said something about picking yourself up (Gandhi or Lincoln or someone). Yes, acknowledge the fall but don't write off the day. That's negative. Pick yourself up and carry on. If it really were easy we would not have a problem . . .
Having watched the last program, I was very disappointed to hear people on low calorie diets whose weight loss had stalled, being told to cut their calories again. It's total madness to suggest this. The weight loss will stall again and again, as the body adapts. How many times can you cut your calories?? If your weight loss stalls you need to change what you eat.
You would probably be better off on the High protein/ Low GI diet, as long as your kidneys are ok.
I didn't fit into any of their categories, according to their test. I eat a low carb diet which got a fleeting mention as part of the Fasting days. There's a lot of scientific literature on how well it can work, shame it wasn't offered as an option to the dieters.
