Hi, I have 4 stones to lose and need to correct my eating habits to do it. In 2014 started to exercise 4+ times each week and can really tell a difference but I know if I dont change my eating habits I wont get any further. How did you change your eating habits, there is so much information I dont know where to start

Download my fitness pal and work out how many calories you are eating first of all, you need to be consuming no more than around 1800k a day to see some sort of weightloss may be as low as1400

Changing from 'white' food to 'brown/wholemeal' may be a good idea, along with adding in a variety vegetables, and cutting down on sugary food and drink.

You need to be eating good food and not just calorie counting.

Generally building good habits like planning your meals, avoiding snacking, cutting portion size (my big thing), avoiding processed food which have hidden fats and sugars, cutting alcohol and full sugar soft drinks will set you on the right path. As said before you need to work out how many calories a day you can eat and lose weight. Also if your exercise session burns 500 calories don't think you can have a treat or eat extra - keep the calories you've burned to help with the weight loss. Good luck!

Hi fellow Linda, I lost three stone in six months on the 5:2 Diet, where you eat normally five days a week and on two non-consecutive days you eat up to 500 calories. It was based on a brilliant BBC Horizon programme called "Eat, Fast and Live Longer" tinyurl.com/qzgo7tq with Dr Michael Mosley and it honestly changed my life. It came out in August 2012 and I wasn't sure how to go about it until the October when Kate Harrison brought out her book called "The 5:2 Diet" and I started straight away. By the April I was down to a size 10 from a 16 and I've kept it off ever since by just 'fasting' one day a week.

There's a series of articles coming out in the New Year in the Daily Mail and I should feature in one if I don't end up on the cutting room floor!

Do watch the video - it's a life-changer!

I am 3 days into Dry January even though I went to the pub last night I didnt have an alcoholic drink. Using MyfitnessPal, tracked 3 days so far. Stuck to my eating plan so far, got midnight munchies last night, had 3 chunks of mango & got over it. Increased my fruit & veg intake too.

6 days without alcohol and not likely to touch any for some time soon, as I have pulled a muscle in my back and my painkillers state "no alcohol". My healthy eating is going quite well, lost a couple of lbs already, but not been able to exercise since Sunday as I put my back out on Monday morning. I do Pilates, so going back to my class tomorrow to try and get some strength/flexibility back.
