Didn't use anything, but that's probably no help at all, lots of support and ideas on here though look out for Lowcal's Monday weigh in thread so we can share our goals and say how we did last week xox good luck!

My husband was given Orlistat some years ago, prior to a heart operation. It did work, but I wouldn't recommend it, unless the weight loss is critical.

Much better to have a look at the NHS plan for starters.

I have found that cutting out processed carbs, like breakfast cereals, cakes, white bread, and especially sugar (including fruit juice), works for me. I have a protein, like eggs, for breakfast, and have kept things like butter and olive oil in my diet.

Good luck Marleynme, remember there are lots of people on here to support you.

Thank you Penel, I guess I am at Rock bottom. I am 17st I was 20st about 5 years ago but cannot move from 17st. I have a bad knee and two weeks ago physio said it won't get no better without losing weight. I can't exercise like I used to so I then get depressed and eat. I used to go weightwatchers but that never got to my comfort eating or binging. Guess I at the hands of my doctor on Tuesday x

Hope the doctors visit is helpful. Have a look at this link for some further ideas, reducing the amount of carbs/insulin your body has to cope with, can help you lose weight and reduce the risk of diabetes, dementia and other problems.

I would recommend researching food and diet, if you can. You may be told to 'eat less', when, in fact, you may need to eat differently.

In August 2012 I watched a BBC Horizon programme called "Eat, Fast and Live Longer" bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episo... which honestly changed my life! If you're not in the UK I can give you an alternate way to watch this.

It led to the 5:2 diet which is the most sustainable way of dieting ever and reduces the risk of cancer, diabetes and dementia, which we all want to avoid!

Do watch the programme - I watched it again last night - and then ask me any questions you like. I lost

three stone in six months going from a UK size 16 to a size 10 and, most importantly, have kept it off since April 2013!

I found this site via the c25k - I'm a recent graduate and was wondering what to do next with my running.

I wondered over to this forum as I have been slowly battling with weight for the past few years (who am I kidding? since I was a teenager more like!). I have lost two stone following Slimming World - a plan I love as I don't have to worry about calorie counting. I've tried calorie counting before and it just gets me obsessing about food and what I can't have instead of what I can have. SW plans are just about healthy eating with lots of emphasis on what you CAN eat. If I want a sweet hit I can factor that in alongside all the healthy foods (usually a before bed low cal choc drink). It's taken me for ever to lose that two stone - but at least I'm maintaining the loss and not piling more on, which is what I know I'd be doing if I wasn't going along to weekly weigh ins and chats...

Thanks for responding, I was a long term weight watcher but I found it didn't help me control my eating all foods were to me as a treat. I'm scared to go back to a meeting. I think eating healthy and in control is the way forward for me x

Don't use this drug, I don't mean it is unhealthy or dangerous for you, but you can achieve everything alone without drugs like this.. what is more, you will be so strong and determined. Just eat responsible, and practice sport like swimming. I know easy to say but also easy to do, really :)
