My name is Matt, I am 30 years old and am from New Zealand. I have been struggling with being over weight for years, and I have decided I am not going to be a slave to my weight any longer.
I developed an addiction to food in my early 20s and it has consumed my life ever since. I was always at a healthy weight before this point. Before I started eating emotionally I was 85kg at 6ft tall, I am now 122.9kg at 6 ft tall. Food has been my best friend and at the same time it has been my worst enemy. I can happily sit there and eat 2 large pizzas with a garlic bread and a 2 litre bottle of coke. If I walk into Burger King I wont order 1 burger, I will order 3 or 4. This is the way I have lived for years, and enough is enough.
I am here to share my journey with everyone and take inspiration from everyone. I officially began my new life on 24/11/14, at 122.9kg. My goal is to get down to 90 kg and maintain that weight for the rest of my life. I will update my progress on here every week.
Matt.

Well done!! It's hard realising you have an addiction, but now you can take the bull by the horns and show it whose boss!!
Set yourself small goals at first, nbo more than 5kg as if you have a bad week, you'll beatt yourself up if you don't meet your goal, gps normally say to loose no more than 2kg per week.
This time of year is stew and hot pot season so it is a great way of getting loads of veg down you, and is a great low calorie option, check out recipes on line for lots of tasty ideas.
Good luck and if you want a life style buddy (i hate the 'D' word) give me a shout.
Hi Matt, may I recommend the 5:2 diet to you? The books are all available on kindle and there is a support group set up by Kim, the author on face book. Have a read off the diet book first, it explained how it works, the health benefits and how easy it is, then have a look at the 5:2 cook books. The support group has a few men on it as well as a few people from New Zealand. We have a lot of fun, share our highes and lows and its a place where you can ask questions about almost anything and find an expert or to who can give you the right answer to most questions. As mitymoo said, set small mile stones and if you have a bad day, don't give up, a bad day is just one day, giving up is for life. X
Yes, it's the food addiction which is the problem. Going 'on a diet' will not help.
Ask yourself this question: 'Did eating any of those huge meals, double pizza etc, ever solve any of the practical problems you worry about? If you feel unhappy about something, does eating a double burger make the thing you're unhappy about go away?'
No? I thought not.
I could sit and eat cake from morning to night, but it would not make any of the things I'm unhappy about go away. So I don't do it. There is no point.
Good luck Matt. This programme is working for me, with occasional slips. It takes some determination. The calorie counting has become routine after 3 weeks and results are showing!! All the best.
Good luck Matt, please keep up with what you have started. If you need to chat we here to help. I am trying to loose a stone myself, I just started going to the gym , and I have cut down on my food intake. So far so good, but it is really a big struggle. But I have a goal to reach my Wright that I feel comfortable with.
