Hi everyone been sent some free ankle weights to help with toning up.as well as toning up while you walk they are said to speed up metabolism.so today im going to wear them whilst walking and see how it goes.

My best motivation for walking is my little Fitbit. I aim at walking 10,000 steps a day, so if I'm short of steps in the evening I pace in front of the TV!
I'm not sure about the ankle weights - let us know how you get on with them. I'm not sure I could walk five miles a day in them.
Hi gingernut - interesting that you use a fitbit. What model do you have? I've been thinking of getting something like that for my mum, to help her keep track of her daily steps. She's not very high-tech, eg doesn't have a smart phone. She didn't get on well with a regular pedometer (she doesn't like the clicking noise they make). Would you recommend your fitbit?
I have the little Zip. It's the cheapest and I wear it clipped in my bra. No clicks! She would need to see her results on a computer - then she'd get a weekly email telling her how far she'd walked - but the Zip does have its own little screen and keeps up to seven days of activity so she wouldn't need to sync it every day.

I got them really by accident but the supplier told me to keep them as a gift.i was really pleased with them.never got anything for free before.

Another option to walking is a rebounder or mini trampoline. I read from a good source that 10 min of jumping is apparently equivalent to 30 min of walking if that helps anyone
daisycoco I read wearing 5lb ankl weights while doing your housework etc..is good too and also wrist weights not 5 lbs though maybe 2 per arm
Yes i wear them most of the day.just popping to the shop and tonight i did a walking video on utube. With them on.
