Frozen chicken breasts

I brought a bag of frozen chicken breasts today instead of a pack of fresh breasts because it just seemed more convenient and they can cook from frozen, was just wondering if there was a bad side to frozen instead of fresh?

Also brought my polar ft4 yesterday, starting my HIIT training on the tredmill now!

I have been using, cook from frozen chciken breasts for weeks now. The only thing I have noticed is that they do shrink when cooked. I cook a extra small fillet and weigh my portion when cooked. Any leftovers I will use on a sandwichs. Works for me and highly convenient.

I don't think there's any bad side to frozen meat but you must defrost it thoroughly before cooking.

I certainly think that frozen vegetables are brilliant as they're frozen on the day they're picked so full of nutritious vitamins. Living on my own it's far more convenient to live out of my freezer. I always buy a pack of, say, fresh chicken breasts and I split them up and open freeze them on a plastic sheet. As soon as they're frozen I tip them into a freezer bag and then I can take one out at a time. That of course also works for chops and steaks, both meat and fish.

There is aextra water and some white stuff pumped into frozen can't remember the name sorry. you will notice it and see it when you cook it. Fresh tastes a lot better, I would only use frozen in things that are in sauces etc as I personally don't like the taste as much, but if you do it's great nothing wrong.

Hey, the only downside to frozen chicken breasts is the stabilisers they use, just watch the added water as this can substantially increase the frozen weight, i usually buy fresh then freeze it myself, as allergic to some of the chemicals and its just as convenient. Hope this helps.

I freeze from fresh too, but frozen should be ok. Except as said for stabilisers and the added water. The white stuff is just water and fat mixing into an emulsion. Do make sure it's cooked thoroughly as freezing does not kill microbes - they wake up again and say "look human insides - lets party!"

I've been buying and freezing nearly out of date stuff for years without mishap. Just freeze quickly and thaw and cook thoroughly. The "value" packs might be produced less ethically than "organic". What I do is cook up a batch then freeze the casserole or whatever. Ready meals at a fraction of shop prices and YOU control what goes into it. Flavour's not great but nutritionally and economically it's fine and freezing conserves vitamins.
