Lots of free advice on the above site. I thoroughly recommend the 12 week plan as it adjusts you to a way of eating for life not just a weight loss 'diet'. My advice is to take time to plan your meals in advance, don't get too hungry & use smaller plates. There is lots of advice about exercise as well. Good luck
Thank you
Hi there I have a very busy lifestyle and have no time for gym etc... I am into week 5 of the nhs livewell plan and have lost 23 pounds so far. I walk as much as I can but that's my only exercise. You should give it a try. X
Thank you thats great
I lost three stone on the 5:2 Diet and thoroughly recommend it. It's based on a BBC Horizon programme which aired in August 2012 called "Eat, Fast and Live Longer" vimeo.com/54089463 and it honestly changed my life. I have tried many different diets in the past and always put the weight back on again as soon as I stopped but I shrank from 12 stone 4 pounds, size 16, to 9 stone 4 pounds, size 10, and have been that weight and size now for over a year. This little YouTube video sums it up very well youtu.be/W9Aj6hRYg4A - it's also called The Fast Diet.
After watching the programme I started to eat from smaller plates and stopped snacking in the evenings after my dinner, so I'd already started to lose some weight. Then in the autumn of that year Kate Harrison brought out her book The 5:2 Diet and I'd already joined her Facebook group, so then I knew how to do it properly. It's so much easier than you think it's going to be!
In January 2013 I started running, using the NHS Couch to 5K podcasts, having loathed running at school, and now I fast one day a week and run three times a week.
I haven't had any expense of joining slimming clubs or gyms and, at 64, I've never been so slim or so fit and healthy!
Thats you this is just what i was looking for, thank you for all you helo, i will definately check this out.
Excellent! It's worked for thousands now and we've all kept the weight off. Please read Kate's book and join one of the excellent 5:2 Facebook groups for advice and inspiration.

ps There's an excellent app called MyFitnessPal where you can log your calories until you're used to it. Allow 500 calories twice a week (Many do Mondays and Thursdays but you can move them to suit what you're doing that week) and then up to 2,000 calories on your 'normal' days.
Thank you ive joined some facebook pages, and will be watching the programe and read Kates book, thank you again for all your great help
I have also started the myfitness pal thank you
I've lost over 4 stones following the Fast Diet - or 5:2 as it's sometimes called - simply cut back your calories to 500 per day (600 for men) on 2 days per week and eat normally (i.e. eat WHAT you like just NOT HOW MUCH you like) on the other 5. You need to calculate what your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (Called TDEE) is and eat just below this on your 5 'normal' days. You can do this here thefastdiet.co.uk/how-many-...
There are no expensive classes, no list of 'special' foods, no 'banned' foods. It's the simplest weight loss plan ever and it can fit everyone's life style as YOU choose your 'fasting' days and you can move them to suit you. You can add in whatever exercise you can make time for at times to suit as you wish.
It's an eating plan that fits round YOUR life not the other way round as so many 'diets' are.
It's not so much a diet as a way of eating that is sustainable indefinitely and can be adjusted to maintain when you reach your target.
Good luck.
check out fastday.com as well - is is all about intermittent fasting
Thanks for that. It's the new beta incarnation of the Fast Diet website but it's rather slow and buggy at present and doesn't have features such as the TDEE calculator thefastdiet.co.uk/how-many-... that the original website had.
Agree with Windswept 1. You can pay a lot of money for diets and fads but the fact is if you eat less than your body spends you will lose weight. I topped scaes at 108kg at Christmas and have been following the NHS guidelines of 1900 calories per day (Bloke). I admit I have bee exercising too but now at end of May im 92kg. I still plan to lose more. Stick with it and record accurately what you eat and try not to overdo it. If I have exercised I still do not eat more than 1900 in a day. Its tough and takes time but is possible. Its mainly down to will power. As you go you need to adjust. Some foods that are filling but not too many calories are Soups, Vegetables, Fruits. If youcan swap chips / crisps / chocolate for carrots, peppers cucumber, fruit pieces you will cut a lot of calories. Beware you will feel hungry!! You needto keep the hunger to a tolerable level, the more hunger you feel the more your body is burning off its fat reserves. Like I say though don't go crazy slow and steady is for the best as you will stick to yor new habits.
Thank you, i think i have a similar situation to you, but i try a diet for a week or so but lose the will power, so how did you keep yours up?
I have recorded loads of data!! I've recordd it n excel spreadsheet, and logged what I have eaten, exercise, weight, Body fat %, waist measurements. The downward trend of the weight, and having to keep notching in the belt has kept me motivated. The more I do and see the better it gets. The results have been great for me and I have noticed a lot of difference, more healthy feeling better and more energetic, noticably lighter means everyting is easier!!
I can forward a copy of the spreadsheet. I'll try to mail you via this forum.
I honestly love this weight loss green store tea. It suppresses my appetite and cravings. This is the only product I can say that does this considering I've tried different types of diet products out there. I highly recommend this to anyone struggling with their weight.
