Starting again today after several failures ..

Done Weightwatchers, Atkins, Slimmers World all great (esp WW) but need the motivation within yourself don't you. Got a gym membership but haven't been for at least 6 weeks. Decided try the NHS webpage for motivation and hopeful from today .... I cheat terribly in the evenings ... I am small and can't carry extra weight ... it gets me down ... bla bla .. although it's a first world problem of course!

Hi Fitzgeme,

One way to achieve a goal can be to declare it on a site such as this, and then it can often give you the motivation you need to get it done. You've had your gym membership but haven't been for 6 weeks - how about setting yourself a challenge to just go once this week - sooner rather than later, because you might enjoy it so much that you decide to go more than once!

Also, how about looking at what foods you 'cheat' with in the evenings, and making sure it is not easily accessed. Out of sight out of mind doesn't always work, but if you can actually make sure you can't access it easily, maybe you won't cheat as much? Maybe think of things you can do to distract yourself. The fact that you know you are likely to 'cheat' in the evenings is good, as you can perhaps look to devise a plan to help yourself to change that.

You've lost weight before, and I am sure you can do it again! Just think about all the things that helped you last time and use those strategies/tips. Lots of people on here mention things that help them, and maybe you can devise a list of ones you might like to try. You can see what works through trial and error. Everyone is different, and what works for one person may not necessarily work for another, but essentially it's worth a try.

Hope you have a good week.

Lowcal :-)

I agree, it is only day 1, and can be the start of some good progress. Just keep positive and take it a day at a time. :-)

Why didn't you like Weight Watchers? I just started.

I did like it and lost about three quarters of a stone on it last year or maybe it was the year before .... then put it back on .. rejoined and just couldn't get motivated that time .... can't afford to keep stopping and starting ... so trying this free nhs thing and running about 2 or 3 times a week if I am good and diet as of tuesday ... not lost anything yet but am hopeful and my head is in a better place about it than it was last week. WW is great and you will do well on it!
