I am determined to lose weight but as a person who can not leave their own home, I wonder if anybody has any indoor exercise tips.

Hi

i dont get out much so i understand. I love my Swiss ball and resistance bands both from amazon also on ebay. There are charts with some that give you ideas or in expensive books on amazon showing how to make the most of them. They can give you a bit of a workout whatever your state of health. If you are well then running up and down stairs is wonderful exercise, you can use a skipping rope indoors and if you don't have stairs you can get a nice stable block or box (they sell purpose made ones) to exercise by doing steps on. I don't know if it's still in print but there used to be a book on army pt which involves lots of star jumps and jogging on the spot. Obviously you could look out for exercise bikes and rowing machines, new would deliver and many 2nd hand would too. It depends on finances really but the Swiss ball and resistance bands are dead cheap and build muscle and tone. Skipping is cheap fun and burns calories.

Yes, I found some excellent videos on YouTube by Leslie Sansone, such as this one youtu.be/oBgB_cqDiXs when the weather was really awful over the winter. They're just walking and stepping to the sides, knee lifts etc, but will really get you energised and she's such a nice girl! She has a variety of walking videos on there, from one mile to five miles and they're really excellent.

I was just about to suggest the same! In 8 weeks combined with weightwatchers Ive lost over 19lbs (8.7kg). I try to do a 3 mile at least 3 times a week. She's fantastic and I highly recommend. :D

Leslie Sansone is good. In fact if you just search youtube for witness workouts or cardio or toning exercises then loads come up. I put into google the other day toning exercises without equipment and it found me loads of vids. All for free without having to go buy weights or mats or extra bits I might not use,

Thanks for sharing that video Gingernut49 :)

Hi Rosie-Chan, I invested in a static bike, which can be folded away when necessary and takes up very little room. Using it whilst watching tv has been a great help in my weight loss - you don't feel yourself exercising as you're too consumed in watching the tv. I also have the Wii fitness and use this to do yoga too. Hope this helps.

Sounds as though it might be worth adding in some yoga, relaxation and meditation which might eventually widen your options for activity. Ekhart Yoga do some good stuff for free on YouTube and their website, with more on paid subscription (plenty to keep you going free)
