Dealing with sudden cravings...I have been good all month and lost half a stone. This week, I have been Ravenous - I am constantly hungry
Well done losing half a stone...I try to eat bigger lunch and smaller meal later...so I use the energy during the day..If I fancy chocolate I have one piece...only...have a good week...
Sometimes you are just hungrier (it has a lot to do with the weather) and you need to adjust your diet to that. Just for a few days, eat more protein. Not huge amounts, just have eggs for lunch instead of soup or salad and eat a few ounces more meat at mealtimes. That'll kick the hunger into touch without adding many calories.
With regard to snacking, I find it a slippery slope. I'm better off when I cut it out altogether, but that's hard to do long-term. The best advice I've come across is to look at each piece of food as a choice. You choose to eat it or not. If you choose to eat it's probably justified. If you choose not you can celebrate that you are making healthy choices for yourself. If I think it through in those terms every time, I eat a lot less.
Did you know that hunger actually goes in waves and doesn't get worse, so you can loudly say NO to yourself and have a hot drink instead and go for a walk. I lost three stone in six months on the 5:2 Diet and fasting does not kill you, it just makes you stronger! I never eat breakfast, so on my two non-consecutive fasting days of 500 calories, I would have a bowl of soup for lunch, and then a small portion of chicken or fish with a mountain of green vegetables followed by a sugar free jelly (then went to bed early to avoid the kitchen!) I'd lost the weight I wanted to by April last year and now I just fast one day a week, where I generally don't eat anything at all during the day but just have a small evening meal. The rest of the week I eat anything I want to so I'm only having to think about food on those fasting days.
I got to 28 stone doing exactly that... ive now lost 14 1/2 on low carb high protein regime good luck with the cravings xxx
Well done on losing the weight. Upping your protein, as suggested, should help. Also make sure that you are eating the high fibre versions of any food, avoid the 'white' stuff.
If you eat yoghurt the full fat ones will fill you up better than the low fat, which are often full of sugar. Make sure you have not gone too low fat or you will feel hungry a lot.
Perhaps try a few almonds if you need a snack?
