Hi, well done for taking a really positive step in creating a more healthy future for yourself. You are so right to think about this as a change in lifestyle rather than a diet you will do for a while and then stop. Keep reminding yourself of the health benefits, you are doing yourself a favour so be kind to yourself. Take it steady and keep posting here especially if you are getting a down at any point

Well done for getting on board and setting yourself a goal to improve your health. Check out ptprograms.com.au for free workout programs and tips. It's free. I found it helpful especially when I was struggling to motivate myself to do some exercise

Well done for making the start! I was three stone overweight in August 2012 when I watched the amazing BBC Horizon programme Eat, Fast and Live Longer (vimeo.com/54089463). I learned from that to switch to smaller plates and I'd stop eating after my evening meal, so no snacking.

Then Kate Harrison brought out her book, The 5:2 Diet, based on the programme, and by April last year I'd lost the three stone and I've kept it off since then. With any previous diet I'd have put it all back on again and more by now. I'm now a size 10, run three times a week thanks to c25k, and my BMI is a smidge less than 20.

Please watch the programme - it's a life-changer!
