If I use oil to brown mince in and then drain off the fat...how many calories would it be? Thanks
Hi Tiger2,even the best mince should have enough fat in it to brown it without adding any oil.Fry it gently and if you waited for it to cool you can scrape off any fat.A little fat from the meat adds to the taste of your meal.
I agree with smiler2012 about not needing oil to brown, but agree with you about draining off most of the resultant fat (into a yoghurt pot to cool and then chuck in bin, not down the drain, before anyone yells at me!) I'd reweigh the cooked mince and calculate it the same as 'extra lean' mince.
personally i dont use anything to brown my meat there should be enough fat in it already but if you feel you have to an olive oil spray is the best option i love olive oils and they are defo the right kinds of oils to be using
I never use oil to fry mince as I think he has enough fat in the meat itself - even steak mince - try dry frying it slowly and then adding some herbs/spices.
