I'm new to this site and new to losing weight. I feel I really need to for my family. I have started researching what my ideal weight should be, BMI and calorie intake should be and started brisk walking this week. I do regular walking anyway but have put a plan in place to do walking with aim for running/jogging in the near future. I've just been brought up to really enjoy food - simple. There's nothing I don't like. I try anything. However, portion sizes can be a problem for me at the moment.

Take a look at the NHS Couch25K site if your eventual aim is for running/jogging.That ,together with all the sensible advice on this site, plus lots of support from everyone here and on C25K,is the way forward.Good luck, post again to let us know your progress, won't you ?
Portion sizes were my biggest problem,so I use smaller plates, weigh pasta, rice etc and still enjoy food, but less of it. Good luck.
