I have kept to a healthy lifestyle, only eating what I should. I've changed my medication and I have put on half a stone. Help!

Can medication encourage weight gain! I take solo many prescriptions - Carbarmazepine, Citalopram, Lansoprazole and Gaviscon Advance.

I could just cry when I weigh my self.

Sorry to hear that you are struggling. Many medications can cause weight gain. Have you talked to your doctor about this?

If counting calories is not working for you, you could perhaps have a look at low GI, or ask your doctor if low carb would be ok.

You should try following a program!! It really helped me. I always check out this website before buying any programs in weight loss - thebestweightlossprogramrev...

My personal favourite is the fat loss factor this is because it helps you with nutritional information which I have always found very difficult. The workout regime is also very effective and doesn't take long to complete which is good if you haven't got a lot of time to exercise like me!

Remember change doesn't happen over night, if you stick to a program you WILL see results in time! Best of luck, don't give up!

Hi Janelily,

My advice is to discuss with your GP (or other doctor who is prescribing your medications) how to approach dealing with the weight gain given your particular underlying medical issues.

It may be possible to fine tune your medication, or to devise an appropriate eating regime to meet your specific needs.

Good luck with your weight loss efforts.

I have now stopped taking citilopram and omeprazole. I have lost the 5 lbs I put on while taking them and I feel better. I know 5 lbs doesn't seem a lot, but it took me months to loss.

I am now on my second 6 weeks of ORLISTAT. My bicycle ride distance Is 8 miles a week but my goal is 10miles. I walk more at work and take magnesium tablets.

So, I'm holding thumbs.
