Hi there, I have been reading your posts for the last four weeks and yesterday, I signed up with My fitness Pal yesterday and started recording my meals. I started to exercise since April of this year and seen a lot of progress. However, since my brother-in-law died on August 9th, I haven't been that consist and have gained about 2 kgs. I now weigh about 71.8 kg at my last weighing on Oct 8th. I will weigh again next Monday. I am working towards losing 13.63 kgs or 2.14 stones. The information that I have read over the last few weeks have given me the inspiration to use the route to continue my weight program.

Looking to regain my momentum.
Hello and sorry to hear that your brother-in-law died in August. Not surprised you have lost your momentum because you are having to deal not only with your own grief but also close family members and friends. You haven't mentioned here how you plan to lose weight, but like you I used MFP to get a better idea of portion sizes and calorie counts and to record exercise as I believe nutrition and physical activity are the way to control weight and improve health. Rather than counting calories every day, I have been following the 5:2 fast plan, where you have 500 calories on two days a week and on the other days you can eat from all food groups. 52fastdiet.co.uk/ This is the most useful forum - and it is more of a change in lifestyle than a diet. Good luck with whatever you decide to do!
Hello Shanber, my plan is to loose 2 lbs ( a little under 1 kg) a week by monitoring the way I eat and exercising. I prefer to build healthy habits instead of dieting. Thanks for the suggestion on the diet plan. I usually cook most of my meals and I am finding it a little bit time consuming, assigning the nutritional value to the food I cook in my fitness pal. I wonder if anyone else have experience this problem.
Hi, you will find lots of recipes and useful health related information on the forum I mentioned
Thanks Shanber, I went to the site and download it. I will use in with my meal planning.
It's does get easier to create your own recipes and log, certainly less time consuming the more you use it. I cook all our families meals from scratch and have a lot of recipes saved in MFP which I re-use as needed or add new ones when required.
I think the other thing to remember is that not all calorie/nutrition counts are 100% accurate, even ones on the back of packaged foods and especially those on items that contain mixed ingredients, it's a guide
hi and welcome. So sorry to hear of your loss. I prefer to think of it as a lifestyle change rather than diet. I've lost weight calorie counting using nutracheck. On their website you can create your own recipes really easily.
Hi Vonnyliz, I went on the site yesterday and started to work on my first recipe. I ran out of time, so I will try it again. I will certainly use to create my own recipesand then I will transfer them information to My Fitness Pal. Thanks, a million.
