I have been eating around 1500 calories of healthy foods for a month now. I have lost 6lb in total but two of the weeks I didn't lose anything. I have a lot more to lose (around 5 stone!) but I know it's important to do it slowly.
As I have an underactive thyroid and am still trying to get my medication completely sorted out (nearly there), I know how important it is to not stress my body too much so I have decided to have a week off. I am still going to eat only healthy foods most of the time and I'm still counting my calories but I am aiming to maintain my weight eating around 2000 calories a day.
I have another reason for doing this. I really enjoy karate but I desperately need to improve my strength and endurance for may next grading, so I'm going to step up the exercise. I don't think exercising harder is a good idea while still eating at a calorie deficit but after a week or so I should be used to it and could reduce my calories again.
I'm pleased to have lost as much as I have this month. It's the most I've managed to lose in a very long time.
Have a great week everyone.

Well done on losing 6 pounds and reducing your calories thats great, I now the feeling of trying to get the thyroxine right its long process. But you'll get there Just this week I Finally got the call saying its in the right range yay. I wish you luck on your next grading x
I think you can definitely justify upping calories. I'm working on 14000kcal a day but any calories i earn from running, i use as extra calories that i can eat, as i think that if i was sticking to 1400 with no exercise id still loose weigh.
