Hey community! I am wondering what are the best exercises to loose weight? And also is it true that running and swimming are the best?

Hi,

I'm not sure what is technically the best but I found doing an exercise I enjoyed and was easy to do makes a huge difference in whether I will stick with it.

I've been walking/hiking for a year now- I've covered over 500 miles and the calorie burn for hiking is very good- 5 miles burnt me 550 cals yesterday- I love being outside and all I need to do is chuck on my walking boots.

Now I've really built up my fitness and reached my target I've started doing the couch to 5 k and that's gone very well too :)

So what do you enjoy?

Have fun!

Dancing is amazing for weight loss as it tones you too as well as being fun! There are DVDs available that you can buy relatively cheaply or youtube videos with classes you can follow along too.

if you can go to the gym i am having good results with the cross country trainer, when i started i was on leve 4 and could only do 20min i am now up at level 9 and can do one hour without stopping if you get the machines that you can watch tv on, its better, i watch two judge Judy shows you ight think its funny but time passes and its a good work out and takes your mind off the timer,

When I was at my heaviest I started off doing aqua fit and then gradually introduced various classes, gym and running into my routine. Body Combat and Body Attack are good calorie burners. You have to have variety and mix up the routine every few weeks. Try different activities and once you find something you enjoy, you're more likely to stick at it.

I like yoga :) thought its nothing to do with weight loss, how wrong I was! Good for stress as well. There's lots of workouts even on YouTube, besides you don't need any equipment well just mat. Good luck"
