I couldn't eat that much carbohydrate in the slightest. I'm eating about 5 a day and that can send me over. I match a mouthful of protein with a mouthful of medium to low gi carbs. I'm a bit stuck really.

Protein every meal probably about 200g a day at least. That's the biggest portion of food that I eat behind veg. Fat - it slows down the sugar so quite a lot, more than I usually would have say 100g a day. Lots of salad, nuts. 2 pieces of brown bread in the morning with peanut butter and then what ever I can get away with. I had toast and peanut butter all week and it was fine - today I had the same thing and it was over. The eat well plate has gone out of the window as it contains too many carbs. Peas or beans are a no-no. Sandwiches etc no. Nothing sweet or simple carbs even cough sweets are sugar free (had a cold). I hope that helps as it's difficult to pin down and I'm not trying to lose weight.

I think I'm losing weight still but have not checked. I was finding it hard to eat anything in the first 16 weeks. I'm eating more now.

Treatment for gestational diabetes also depends on which trimester you are presently in. If past 6 months, doctor will advise you to start on insulin because the first priority at this time will be keep your sugar level under check. Oral medications for controlling blood sugar are generally not prescribed. Consult your doctor immediately as this is not the time to experiment on your own. Best of luck and best wishes!

Thank you. I was going to ring tomorrow as I've been concerned but I've been given an appointment now with a diabetes nurse. I'm in the second trimester. It just doesn't seem to make any sense. Sometimes there's enough sometimes there isn't.

Hi angel

I really feel for you, it's bad enough that they give you a list as long as your arm of foods not to eat while pregnant, that if your like me included most of my favourites! But then to be limited even more because of sugar levels is a real bummer for you.

If your sugar is spiking like that, it sounds like something your eating doesn't suit you and your body is trying to fight the side effects and that's why it's spiking.

Porridge oats are good for regulating blood sugar.

Check the blood group diet out, it tells you which foods are a medicine, which are toxic and which to eat generally

dadamo.com

I'm blood group O negative and found out I'm wheat and dairy intolerant! I've had to be careful with flour as it makes my psoriasis flare up.

I made the few changes that it suggested, mainly having mozzarella cheese instead of cheddar, have gluten free pasta, bread and soya milk.

After just 1 week I felt a difference, I wasn't bloated, and by the end of the first month my face and scalp were nearly clear of psoriasis.

Even if it only keeps your blood sugar from spiking, it will be a blessing for you, and you're not having take anything you're just changing a few foods so there is nothing to put your precious little one at risk.

I had twins a month early, girl 6.10 and boy 6.02 and only gained 11lb in pregnancy, it will sound totally bonkers but I found If I ate every 4 hours when they started kicking, they settled for a few hours and I hardly gained weight. If they started kicking when I wanted to go to bed I had a slice of bread and butter and a glass of milk, it settled them all night.

The day they should've been born they were 8 1/2lb!!

I hope it helps, and I wish you well in your pregnancy and being a believer in angels, I have asked them to watch over you and your precious little angel to keep you safe.

Take care and angel blessings xx

I am type 1 but I found my insulin requirments changed and went up around half way through I would just take the insulin as high blood sugars can cause problem for the baby dont worry too much about it then concentrate once you have had a bouncing baby

Yes, they found the diabetes very late in my last pregnancy and my son was very big. Its worse this time and I'm in the clinic now waiting to go on insulin. I just wasn't eating enough in a day to sustain me and the pregnancy. Thank you for your help.

I have been there twice with both of my sons.they must give you the monitor to check your sugar level.it shouldnt be over 7.8

And in a week you are allowed 2 times penalty.if you go over that you go to inisulin.because your body doesnt craete enough inisulin there fore your baby overgrows.i managed this with a simple rule .i eat every hour.i know it sounds crazy.i always start the day with protein not carb .ex 1 boilwd egg ate half of it then other half.1 hpur later 30 mins later half apple 30 mins later half banana1 haour later half bamana . Half volger breadwith spread of peanut butter 1 hour later...

It goes like this.use low gi carb.such as whole meal pasta and rice.mix with protein

Make carb portion very small.ex 2 spoon full of whole meal pasta with oven baked salmon and steamed veg.check your level after 1 hour of the meal.it wont shoot off 7.8.you can have a bowl of pasta as well but after the food you have to do a good 1 hour walk.you can just getaway with 7.7 level.good luck.if you need more help pls email me.haticeaniloz@googlemail.com

My first son was 7 pound 4 ounces

Second was 7 pound 12ounces.i have induced 39 weeks

So essentially I can't eat anything as it'll send my bloodsugars high. No alcohol I'm pregnant. I need to have a healthy diet because I'm practically following the Atkins diet without going mad about it. I'm waiting to get my insulin increased now as I'm not prepared to eat so unhealthily in order to keep my blood sugar down. My body is just not producing enough insulin and it is not ealing with it fast enough. I do to want to but its safer
