green tea?: Hi ive heard 3 cups of green... - Weight Loss Support
green tea?
I've noticed several magazines mention the benefits of 'green tea' for weight loss. Can't remember the reasons for that though, or how effective they claim it to be. I think it is 'green' tea rather than peppermint tea - but I've also heard that peppermint tea is good for digestion, so I guess both types will have positive benefits! Green tea is quite refreshing, and the taste of peppermint tea is particularly nice too.
I had a mug this morning and was promptly sick! I think it must be an aquired taste! Or maybe I wasn't too well anyway. I heard it was good to kick start your metabolism, and will be having another cup tomorrow
Its four cups a day over a six week period, before you see any benefit. It speeds up the metabolism slightly.
Try the fruit flavoured ones - they are easier on the taste buds.
Hi folks,
As I said elsewhere, they (green and white teas) are high in anti-oxidants. They're slimming qualities however, are perhaps more of a matter of folklore than science.
I quite like both, especially the white, which perhaps has a bit of a milder flavour.
However, don't make them the way my dear Mum would have made tea. (If the teaspoon doesn't stand up in the middle of the cup by itself, the tea's not strong enough!)
I'd recommend: teabag in cup, hot water, 2 minutes to draw, remove bag and sip tea.
I was desperate to drink Green Tea but just could not stomach it as I found it just to bitter. Then my wife bought me some Tea Pigs Mao Feng Green Tea, which tasted totally different not bitter after taste or anything, I've been drinking that regularly now for over a year.
That lead me to try Matcha Green Tea Powder, which in essence is a very concentrated Green Tea Powder traditionally drunk in Japan. The advantage to Matcha is that you can cook or blend it with your normal food, I have a half a teaspoon in my porridge each morning. Matcha contains around a 130 x the antioxidants of regular green tea If you want to try it though, shop around as prices vary greatly.
I think the claim that Green Tea increases metabolism can be somewhat exaggerated probably by the Green Tea manufacturers/producers, I think I read somewhere that you would have to drink 10 cups a day to burn an extra 50 cals, but hey 50 cals is 50 cals. But having said that there are real and proven health benefits associated with drinking Green Tea and Matcha!
