Hello,I was wondering if anyone out there had a similar experience to me recently.
I have been bleeding for 4 months non stop. It's not painful, the blood used to be a mix of old and fresh, recently it has been very bright and fresh.
I first saw a nurse who was amazing- she did a general blood test, cervix exam and a smear test in my appointment.
She then rushed an ultrasound and internal scan for me.
The smear test came back fine, the blood tests were fine, the ultrasound was fine.
Their only notes were my uterine lining was slightly thicker but not worrying and my thyroid was slightly high. Further thyroid tests showed I had no antibodies and again, the numbers did not worry them.
Since seeing the nurse, I feel like I've hit a wall with my doctors. One doctor referred me to see a gynaecologist but I've been told I'll be waiting 3 months.
Another doctor wants me to go on the pill, but I have my reservations. I really feel like there is something wrong and going on the pill feels like putting a plaster on the situation and I'm being palmed off. This is the same doctor who said I "don't have PCOS anymore" because she can't see anything wrong with my ultrasound. This statement really worried me. I've been diagnosed and having symptoms since 16, I am now 31.
My mum and grandmother have had issues like this, so naturally I am incredibly scared and feel that the doctors do not care at all.
Is there anything that I can ask for? Is there anything I'm missing? It's really affecting my daily life and has me frightened for the future - I have no children but maybe one day I will want them. What will I do then?
Any advice or stories would be greatly appreciated
Thank you x

I’ve also been having excessive bleeding. Mines only lasted a month soo far, but it could be longer. Doesn’t seem to be stopping.
It happened to me a couple of years ago where I also bled for 3/4 months straight and the doctors said everything was fine, it’s just because I have PCOS. It just stopped one day.
I was wondering whether I should even bother going to see the doctors this time as they just seem to always blame everything on my PCOS.
So I was diagnosed with PCOS IN 2018 after investigating as to why I wasn’t able to lose weight and I was bleeding in between periods. I wanted answers as I’m actively trying to have a family and nothing was happening but miscarriages. My bleeding has only progressively gotten worse and despite joining a gym and being more active than I’ve ever been very little has changed. I constantly bleed for months, sometimes extremely heavy which prevents me from being active and consistent. I asked to be referred to a specialist centre to help with my fertility and all I’ve been told is that I need to lose weight. I’m trapped in a vicious circle but I’ve recently found a new doctor who is willing to explore a bit further. I’m currently waiting for a referral to Endocrinology to test my hormone levels and I’ve been on Metformin since December to help with my metabolism.
If I had one bit of advice to give you it’s to keep shouting and get your voice heard. Go and see another doctor for a different opinion. Don't leave it too long as I’ve just turned 38 and feel like I’m in the worst position now to have kids and wish I’d acted much sooner. Do remember though that you’re not alone and not enough people talk about PCOS and it’s sometimes debilitating symptoms.
I’ve also had excessive bleeding, I’ve been prescribed tranexamic acid tablets for the next time it gets out of control, which is supposed to stop excessive blood loss.
