Potentially diagnosed PCOS

Hi everyone,

I wanted a bit of advice on my current situation and I guess you guys are the perfect go too’s.

I am 29, I haven’t had a period in 3 months (third time this has happened in my life) and my mood is incredibly low/no motivation/feeling sensitive. A blood test showed testosterone was above normal range, low progesterone an LH of 22 and my white blood cell count was under the lower end of the reference range.

I am due to go for a transviginal scan in a couple of weeks to see what’s going on internally but the GP said it’s most likely PCOS.

I just wanted to know what your thoughts were on the symptoms above and if there’s anything that has helped you balance out your hormones?

I feel very much unable to live a normal life because of these symptoms, I am trying to maintain a routine with work and fitness but everything seems very overwhelming so any advice would be highly appreciated.

Thank you in advance if you have taken the time to reply ☺️

Hiya,

I was diagnosed with PCOS very early at the age of 15. I was struggling with low mood swings and I was so exhausted I would have at least a 2 hour nap. Have you asked them to check your iron? Because I did and turns out because of the periods not happening and then happening and being very heavy my iron was low. I decided to take some iron tablets and vitamin d tablets which seem to really help.

I also cut out on some of my carbs which has helped my mood quite alot! So might be worth a try. The most important thing is to rest when you feel like you need it. Don't overwork yourself.

Im new to here, so I dont know whether messages can happen, but if so im happy to talk and chat different ways to make ourselves better xx

Did they measure your vitD? If they didn't, please request it. If your level is below 100, ideally take strong vitD supplements. Low vitD especially during the winter causes low mood and women with PCOS (which you most likely are) are more prone to it. I take 10ug (normal) vitD during summer and 150ug (extra strong dose) during the winter. If I forget those for a couple of days I get very moody.

You might have something else going on since low levels of white blood cells, so make sure you keep on top of your GP to find answers!
