What's the next steps for TTC after trying metformin and not liking it and irregular periods is there any hope :(

hello so I was on metformin for 8 months and it made me so ill I was crying everyday because it made me so ill I did find it help me lose a couple of pounds as the doctor said I need to lose weight.

so now I'm off the metformin I cant help but worry and cry that I have given up with the metformin so what's next what will they do next what other treatment is out there that will help? I don't have regulars periods so I'm guessing I'm limited on medication I can try now?

I don't know how long you've been TTC for, but if it's been 12 months (6 months if over 35) I'd seek a referral to a fertility clinic. It may also help to be referred to gynae or endocrinology for your pcos alone. I'd try myoinositol as an alternative to metformin, as it's natural and studies have shown it has similar effects but without the nasty side effects. I'd take a vit D supplement as levels are usually low in individuals who have pcos and or are overweight, you may need more than 10ug a day. Also take an omega 3 supplement and a good prenatal, like proceive. Try to eat a high protein and low carb (wholegrain rather than refined ones) diet, to help manage blood sugar levels. Some peopld try goinv gluten and dairy free, as they're pro inflammatory. Losing even 5% of weight may help with your cycles and TTC, so exercising like brisk walking and resistance training may help.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply so we have been TTC for about year and a half but every time I speak to the hospital about it they wont put me forward for anymore treatment because of my weight :( but I will try what you said and start with vitamins and diet iv also started the gym so I will continue with that and hope they put me forward to see a fertility clinic.

It sounds like you're already making some positive changes, just a shame you're not being supported more by professionals in how best to go about it. I'd definitely try myo inositol, it really helped curb my sugar cravings. I started with inofolic alpha, but you can get cheaper brands, like free soul, on Amazon. Look for one that's 4g (2g twice a day). You may find one brand works better than another. NAC supplement is also supposed to be helpful for pcos, too.
