Mini pill- weight loss? Or something serious?

About me: 34yo, F, PCOS & history of IBS

Bit of a long story but around September last year I noticed I was losing quite a bit of weight (unheard of for me as I have pcos which makes weight loss hard) I was also being sick every morning before work, had horrible stomach pains in different areas and was generally quite unwell. Had blood tests, all came back "satisfactory" hate that term. Was put down to reflux so went back on Omeprazole. Anyway, I started eating normally again and put a few lbs back on. Then a few weeks ago it happened again and I noticed I'd lost weight again. People are even commenting on it now. The weird thing is I actually feel better in myself which has settled my anxiety massively and The last 2 weeks I've eaten like a pig, pains haven't come back and I've not been sick. Yet I've lost 4lb this week!!

I'm petrified they're missing something and this is undiagnosed cancer.

I had a H Pylori stool test which was negative and more bloods yesterday which is checking everything again plus a couple extras. I can see the results are back and have been allocated to a GP to review.

I just don't know what to do. Genuinely scared whatever this is is terminal.

Another thing to add is that I started the mini pill last May as my pcos was causing uncontrollable bleeds. Weirdly since starting it my IBS symptoms have basically disappeared. I thought maybe it's balanced out a hormone? I dunno. I get mixed reactions when I suggest that.

Ibs can be caused by hormonal imbalances. By going on the pill your cancelling out your natural hormones and adding artificial hormones. I was on the mini pill a year ago , I only stayed on it for 2 days. Each morning I couldn’t get out of bed until the afternoon due to intense nausea . It seems like you throwing up is causing weightloss . Maybe even the weightloss is causing you to feel less anxious about yourself. If this pill is causing you to worry so much about your health , maybe think about coming off the pill ?

The pill isn't causing me to worry. I've had health anxiety for 10 years. I just wondered if the pill had balanced a hormone which was aiding the weight loss.

I just meant maybe the weightloss has made you feel better about your physical self and less self conscious . In turn making you feel less anxious (not relieved your anxiety all together) . You said you lost weight and felt better in yourself and less anxiety, so I connected the dots that maybe it could be a possibility there are connected on some level. With my experience I dealt with a lot of nausea as I said. Throwing up is not healthy and I hope that is no longer happening ? We need food for fuel especially with illnesses like this food is paramount, it’s medicine. Anxiety can be relieved from being on the pill if the anxiety is caused by hormonal imbalances. Anxiety can also be relieved with cbd oil , nutrition , low carb diet , removing refined and fructose sugar, removing plastics , taking adaptogenic herbs such as ginseng, Ashwagandha and basil. Myo and d chiro inositol , drinking spearmint tea , breathing exercises , avoiding unnecessary stress and learning to change your perception when dealing with stressful situations. Hope I helped in some way x

Oh I see yeah maybe. I am so much better now. I've eaten too much this last week cos of easter and had a couple of nauseous mornings but that's it so guess that's down to the reflux. My bloods were all normal so I'm just going to accept (& enjoy) the weight loss now if it continues 🤣

The pill just covers up your pcos symptoms like a plaster. The symptoms are still there in the background. So weather you are on the pill or not it’s always a good thing to follow a pcos friendly diet. Try and be aware of the health of your hormones because they may not be showing you the consequences now but once you come off the pill if they haven’t been looked after well they can come back worse. When you do come off the pill try to look in to supplements also like Myo and D chiro inositol this will then be your saviour. Wish you health and happiness 🙏🏽 x

Yeah I know but unfortunately I was bleeding so badly I had no choice but to go on it. I avoided it for years.
