Feeling lost and confused!

Helo,

Yesterday I went for a Ultrasound Scan and the lady said that both my ovaries were enlarged and were polycystic.

The doctor rang today saying that I had cysts in my ovaries but otherwise I'm fine no need to worry about anything.

I went on to tell him that I suffer from very bad acne, Excess hair growth and that I really struggle to lose weight. I Told him that I am a very active person that actively tries to lose weight by going to the gym 4/5 times a week and walk around 4 miles a day. I told him that I have had antibiotics for acne before but have failed to work. I told him that my periods have been irregular since December and that sometimes my cycles are shorter that 21 days. He kept trying to convince me to chance back to the pill from the coil even though I told him multiple times that the pill made me depressed.

I'm pretty convinced that I have PCOS but he didn't give me a diagnosis of any form just told me that I'm stuck in a vicious cycle!

I feel a bit lost and don't know what to do. Should I talk to another doctor? or am I making it up in my head?

Thank you

Morning Lovely,

Sounds very much like PCOS, perhaps try speaking to another doctor?

I have all of the symptoms that you have but my cycles are very long 90+ days sometimes. The thing I have found that works for my acne is Skinoren, its very drying but I have been using it a few weeks and then putting Aveeno crème on top to really moisturize my skin and its working a treat! I do also have one of these electric cleaners that does 4 different things and really washes your face I go it from Amazon for £14 and that has also really helped as it really cleans my face.

It will all get easier I promise, once you understand your triggers it will get easier. I eat as little sugar and refined foods as I can but do still have treats 2-3 time a week this could be a cadbury twirl or a fresh sourdough roll. Its about balance and tracking your calories to see what you are eating in terms of carbs and sugar as these are big PCOS triggers. Hair growth is S*** I wish I had a cute for that... I just pluck to my hearts content! How attractive! You are doing so many right things, you will see the weight fall off with a low carb and sugar diet and a good calorie deficit.

It will take a while to work out what works for you but there is help out there and there are ways of coping. Chat to another doctor and I am sure you will find your path.

You aren't alone. x
