Contraception as a treatment?

Does anyone use contraception as treatment for PCOS? I can’t take the pill because of migraines and being overweight. The mini pill is not great for me either. I take Medroxyprogesterone every 3 months to ensure I have a bleed. The tablets kill me emotionally. I get really bad days before, during and after the period. Days where I could sit and cry or days where everyone needs to steer clear including myself !! I am thinking of asking about the implant as a substitute for this. I don’t need it for contraception but to treat periods. Any advice before I speak to my doctor would be helpful. Thanks.

As I understand it the mini pill and the implant work the exact same in that they both only have the 1 hormones not 2 like the regular pill.

I can't use the normal pill because I get migraines so have pretty much always been on the mini pill as a treatment. Children arent something I'm planning on never have been so GP 's will only treat my PCOS through contraception.

Honestly I don't think it's fantastic, it's works ok enough, I used to have the implant which was great not having to remember to take a tablet the same time every day but it felt the same as when Im on the mini pill (cerelle/cerazette) with the exception that I didn't need a brake from having the implant in.

As stupid as it sounds I do find that every year and half to 2 years coming off the mini pill and having a 3-6 months of a brake before going back on it help me too.

The mini pill has always regulated my period (which I know is unusual to have bleeds whilst on the mini pill) so instead of having a bleed anyway from 17 days to 82 days apart I will have bleeds consistently between 30-45 days apart but after 18-24 months I'll find they just stop all together and my PCOS symptoms come back in force but if I take a brake then go back on them it helps calm my symptoms again.
