Newly diagnosed with PCOS and I am a student. Having to pay for metfomin for the rest of my life is a worry, especially during this time in my life as I struggle with money as it is, without having to pay for this constantly. Can you get a medical prescription exemption certificate ?

Unfortunately not but you could ask the gp to prescribe more than a months worth or if you have more than 4 meds in 3 months or more than 14meds in 12 months a pre payment certificate is cheaper £29.10 For a 3 month period and £104.00 for the year...(which I doubt if you're a student and assuming young). Sometimes cheaper to pay prescription charge. Good luck.

Were you checked for insulin resistance prior to being put on it, not all PCOS ladies are IR, I am not.
