Metformin dosage

Hello, I’m currently on 2 tablets of 500mg twice a day. The breakfast tablets are fine but I really struggle with the side effects with the dinner tablets. I was wondering if it was possible to do 2 tablets with breakfast, one with lunch and one with dinner? Thanks

You can actually get 1000mg metformin and they are slow release too, so just 2 tablets a day. They are a lot easier. I struggle myself with the side effects so I only take the 1 tablet a day. Docs are fine with that

Hi,

I was just about to say the same thing as Chloe, are you on slow release? I found the side effects on the normal ones unbearable so went onto slow release. My GP told me they always try people on the normal ones first as the slow release are more expensive. I don't think it would be an issue splitting the tablets but definitely check with your GP and ask them to put you on slow release if you're not already. I am on 1000mg twice a day, two 500mg in the morning, two 500mg at night. Hope this helps :) A

Hello

Thanks so much for you answers girls. I am not on slow release but I’ll talk to my gp about it.
