I am a type two diabetic and have a!ways taken metformin for diabetes I have never heard of it as a weight loss drug it certainly doesn't help me to lose any.
Metformin is to treat insulin resistance that is caused (in varying degrees) by pcos. It can be linked to weight loss (as part of a calorie controlled diet) but then so can most things. It always makes me very sick when I take it but then my insulin resistance isn't a massive factor so I think that goes hand in hand. Good luck giving it another try. Hope it helps x x
The weight loss is usually down to having such a bad upset tum so is one of the side effects of metformin, you should only be given metformin if you have been tested for insulin resistance.
Slow release metformin is meant to cause less gastrointestinal issues. Research has shown it helps lower testosterone & will only lower blood glusose levels if elevated. It's also meant to help with weight loss as it breaks the insulin resistance chain. Hope this helps
I’m on slow release Metformin for my weight and unfortunately I’ve had no weight loss with it at all. I’ve not been tested for insulin resistance prior to having it. I’ve gained about 3st now I’m the past year and a half since having the PCOS and I’m really struggling as I can’t shift any weight at all. I hope you get sorted xx
